I have a couple of quotes from Bairs....they sell Corvette America....she said she wasn't supposed to tell me but I've heard people say the box says corvette America on it....not sure why they would hide that fact...especially since Bairs's price is lower. I'm going back and forth on leather vs. vinyl. Man, I had one car with a full leather interior and it was so nice...smelled great too.

I like the leather much better, more comfortable. All I can tell you is that one of our members got the vinyl covers and both he and his wife HATE them. He is going to be getting the leather instead. Don't cheap out at the expense of comfort!

You funny Barry....hey the vinyl was OE so you know what your getting. I just happened on a new L88 hood some dude is offing for $500....only so much $$ to work with.....what to do, what to do. I do anticipate running the vette around lake tahoe in the summer, no AC and in my shorts....ya leather is much nicer...skin to skin feels pretty good. Peeling your sweaty thigh off a plastic seat...not as nice. Of course a beach towel will fix that....what to do what to do.....

So, this was my solution for my `82 - admittedly, in order to preserve it as original I went a bit out of my way.  I found the original slate gray (silver gray) at SMS Fabrics Co. in Oregon - the stuff is $89/yard and you require 3 yards.  Then, I had them send it directly to Al Knoch who did an incredible job, including foam installation and for additional, they embroidered the logos on the back of the seat.  I'm keeping this car forever, so I went the extra distance.  The original cloth fabric cost a little more than leather, but my wife and I prefer the OE cloth fabric - especially now that it will look like new when I install them in the Spring.

I see lots of praise for Al Knoch, and that was my opinion too.  However, bought a set of comfort weave covers for my 72 at Carslisle last year, finally got around to working on the seats and I discovered a small stain on on of the seat bottoms.  After getting no response to my emails I called and was told "you should have opened up the seat covers and inspected them within 30 days".  Well maybe I should have, but I think it's quite common for do it yourself Vette restorers to purchase parts and put them on the shelf until needed.  I have had no issues with other suppliers when asking to return/exchange parts purchased in anticipation of a restoration.  The sales rep offered to sell me a replacement for over $100.  Don't think this represents "dedicated to making sure our interiors surpass your expectations!"  as it says on their web site.  Just passing along,  draw your own conclusions.

Dave,

I bought door trim panels, seat covers, windshield pillar trim and a console "T" cushion from Ecklers for my '72. The fits were exact and the color match perfect.  I also bought a convertible top (their source was Kee Top Co. in North Carolina) plus new weatherstrip kit and attaching kit; again perfect fits.

Good luck,

Dan

Really!  Maybe I'm wrong but I think if the product was defective, the passage of some arbitrary period of time should not absolve them from providing what I paid for, and unblemished seat cover!  But that just my opinion.
