Haven't been here for a long time.  I went to Lowes and bought a foil-backed adhesive foam.  Inexpensive and worked well.  Don't remember the brand, sorry.

Lizard Skin for sound applied first then Lizard Skin for insulation second. If you want to get crazy do inside and out and use Dynamat .

Dyoes, we have a lot in common!  I did the Dynamat thing too but the car is still up on jacks.

I've had a running joke that the car was a 9-month project that is now in year three.  But after looking at the calendar again, I've realized it's year four...  Confused

Got the car off of jackstands a few months ago, and was determined that it wasn't going back up.  Except for that transmission leak... And now that "wump wump" from the drivetrain when it's pushed.  Arrgh!

Anyway, here's a shot of the interior right after I laid the insulation.  Failed to mention that you can also buy carpet with some insulation built in.

We are about to replace carpet in Dad's '69 427 roadster and are going to insulate that one as well.  That car is HOT to drive... even with side pipes.  I'll post some pics when we get to it.

Foil backed insulation from a roll, all seams sealed with reinforced aluminuminum foil tape. 3M spray adhesive to hold it all down nice and snug. Thumbs Up

It may be called "Reflectix", and I found it at my local hardware store.

Not sure Gary....Dwain(longhorn296) bought it for his '72....I just installed it for him while I was doing some other stuff. I think he got it from Home Depot, or something like that, but I ain't really sure. Maybe he'll see this and say where it came from. Smile

I did as Larry, I used Lizard skin. I absolutely loved it, very easy to work with and the final results are very impressive. 2 gal bucket did the whole inside of car all the way back to the tail lights.

I am getting ready to install new seats and carpet in my '74 coupe.  Thinking about the combination carpet/insulation at MidAm.  Lizard skin sounds like a good alternative.  How thick is the coverage from a 2 gallon bucket?

Thanks,

Ray

Lizard Skin wants two coats. The two gallon bucket got me through three coats for the entire inside compartment, plus I did the firewall and undercarriage with two+ coats (I wanted to use it all up because it'll just go bad in the can). I even did the inner fenders. It cures pretty thick like undercoating.
