Here's another dumb question...the sun visors on our 78 Pace car won't pivot or go down and up. They are both stuck in the up position.  Is there a secret button or place to squeeze?  What on earth am I missing?

Not missing anything at all. Had the same problem with our Pace Car. If they don't turn you can pry the chrome cap off the top and put a drop or 2 of oil in there. If the visor itself won't go up and down and just appears to twist or bunch up on the rod it is most likely no good. The silver pace car visor with the "L" shape rod on them are about $45 - $50 each and easy to replace.

Welcome to C3VR. Tell us about your Pace Car. Got pictures?

Thanks for reply. The visors won't flip up and down.  Seems stuck to the rod.  They swing fine just won't go down, or up.  I'll have to invest in a replacement set since both have the problem.   We bought this 78 on July 18th from Corvette Mike in Boston. It's an L82 with the M21 manual 4 speed.  It is all original with just 1700 miles on the odometer. I have the original window sticker and build sheet and all dealer new owner materials.  An NCRS candidate that will unfortunately be a trailer queen but with a little driving to local shows.  I plan to show it in the mid Atlantic shows.  Not ready yet to bring it out.  I will post a few pictures when I get the chance.

I solved the problem with the visors and can stay "original".  Believe me they were stuck and would budge.  Before replacing I thought I would spray some WD40 inside along the rod. Using the thin red "straw' on the WD40 can, I stuck it thru the opening on the visor where the rod goes thru and gave a couple of short sprays.   Waited about a half hour and worked them both loose and now they work fine.

Is it working now??  Otherwise there is a plastic piece that slips over the sunvisor rod that holds it to the swining piece!!  (confused yet?)  That is what was wrong with my 81!!
