Second-month production Shark, this 1968E was built up by original owner into 1969 ZR1 (L88 body with LT1 engine) for Club Racing. Body styling is from Maglioli's 1968 L88 "Le Mans" racer

G'day from Down Under.  I find myself the owner of a 1968 convertible that, on the evidence (it's still in USA, so I'm going on pics) is a 3 speed manual (which makes it "rare" with only 326 built*, but not necessarily desirable) and originally carried the base 327/300 motor, but now has a 69 or later shift console with a 327/350 i.d. plate and 4 speed pattern.

(The evidence:  trans: there's no reverse lockout on the shifter; engine: the tach is redlined at 5300 rpm**, i.d. plate: 68s didn't have engine data plates***)

My query:  I haven't seen a 68 three speed console plate in any of the catalogues or reference sources I have.  Was it / is it available?

Try Paragon. They do NOT have one listed on their website, but they do stock good used stuff. You'll need to call, or send them and inquiry via the website.

Also, give Larry at a shot, He has some rare stuff like that sometimes, and he's also a Sponsoring member here...we like to send business his way if possible.

I've sent email queries to both.  Cheers.

I've struck out with both references, on the 3 speed shifter plate.  Could there be another solution, or is the 68/69 3 speed car just too rare (less than 1% of those two year's production)?

We checked all our sources, including the ones with hidden stashes of NOS parts, and couldn't find one.  I am afraid it will take a miracle to find a used one, or find a picture and have one machined.  It is a pretty simple piece, so possible to duplicate.
