This is a set of V shields that SHOULD fit 70-82...BUT they are off an 81 and the pass side one has the relief for the rt side dipstick tube. These are not repro'd(80-82).
I bought these to use on my 79's conversion back to "correct" but ended up scoring an NOS pair.
They've been blasted clean, painted hi-temp alum and baked and buffed. They look pretty good as compared to the NOS one pictured above it(that one is NOT for sale).
$23 shipped
The alternator bracket is 80?-82(the type that mounts to the lower alt bracket, not the wp bolt). Nice original condition, but will blast and paint if desired.
$17 shipped

Jim, let me point out one detail first.
On my LATE production 79, the bracket on the NOS shield I bought for the pass side didn't line up with the bolt hole in the block. The original shield that I replaced had the mounting bracket moved to reach the bolt hole. This one off an 81 would have lined up correctly. Apparently when they went to the pass side dipstick they moved the mounting hole to clear the dipstick and my late 79 L82 is the newer casting.
So....the mount on the pass side shield would have to have the lower pop rivit removed so the bracket could be swung over a little to hit the hole, about 3/4 inch.
Was surprised to find this out last week when I put the new ones on. Wondered why the original one had been modified. Didn't remember dealing with it 25 years ago when I did the mods. I made up a 3/4" bracket to mount to both the V and J shields to reach over to the hole rather than move the bracket on the V(and the J for that matter).

Perhaps you'd prefer these? Original equipment from my 79, but chrome plated. The chrome is a bit tarnished/pitted but they still do look pretty good. I'd definitely use them myself if they weren't chrome as they're actually in better shape than some of the ones presently on my other Vettes!
I'd suggest shooting them with clear as they are pretty hard to maintain when installed.
(compare the two pics and you'll see how the one bracket is further over)

Mike - thanks for the heads-up.  I'll look to see what is currently on my engine and let you know.  If someone else knows they have a direct fit for their engine that's fine with me.
