My family will be vacationing starting the Saturday of C@C in 2011. (Just like 2010).

Driving up Thursday evening and back Friday night, then back again a week later to pick up the supplies was kind of a pain this year.  Not to mention I had to rely on the kindness of many of you folks to run the booths and break down.

So, I'm trying to figure out how best to handle the C3VR/C4VR/C6VR booths at Carlisle for 2011.

I think I may give up some or all of my ID-50, 51 & 52 swap meet spaces (cost $95 each) and just rely on the folks that typically set up a tent in the C3 Parking area.  I can send along a box of flyers and someone can just set them up there for people to take.  No need for shifts or selling or anything.

Does that make sense, or does anyone else have any other ideas?

UPDATE: There will be a booth in space ID-50 on FRIDAY ONLY!

There always seemed to be someone at the "Camp" all the time so that is not a problem. Only "problem" was not a lot of shade, take the money from the tables and get a good sized canopy with the C3VR logo on top or all four sides so it can be seen from all angles. The regulars can take care of the rest.
We will also make sure we bring "police tape" next year to hold the space for C3's only.
So is this vacation home big enough for us to come relax with you for the rest of the week????Wink

What and miss out in the table debacle? That sounds great Adam..I may be able to talk my dad into bringing his tent up.he was the guy with me last year ..it is deep enough to cover two spaces..he has all the tarps and stuff to put it up..maybe would need a sign or two like big E says..

Glad to hear you're feeling well! That's more important than some stupid booth.

That being said, let's keep this topic on C@C.  We'll start another one for funfest when the time keeps.

Thanks!

Do we need permission from the Heads at Carlisle to put something at the parking area? Lets not get a bad rap for no reason. We can do what is needed if the help is willing.  Mark

Can we commandeer a spaxce or two and invite members to sell their spare parts at the swap meet if  we split the cost? We can even put up banners and set up the flyers...

Adam,
If you want to keep one spot to promote C3VR, I would help set up one tent, 2 tables with chairs, sign, hand out flyers and collect money from new members and renewals. I expect to be there to tear down as well.
Only you know if it is worth while or not.
I don't think Lance would want us selling at the C3 parking area, but handing out info might be OK.
Whatever you decide, I will be there for you.

I go to the Ford show at Carlisle in June and how they do that Carlisle sets up a free big tent if you register 25 or more members of a club. I don't know if they do it for Corvettes or not, but it would be worth looking into. They let you sell club merchandise from the tents also! Just a thought.

Officially C3VR can have a booth in the C3 Parking area, with info and merchandise, but I've chosen not to since I had the space in swap meet area, I feel like there is more foot traffic there. If I do not come up there, it does not make sense to ship anything other than a box of flyers.  I'd have to count on you guys to bring a canopy and maybe a table for the parking area.

Ultimately, if nothing official gets set up, so be it.  The past few years have not been very useful. We get a few new members each, year, but not sure it is worth the effort and expense for me to be there.

Off topic...update your old thread and tell us about the Carolina trip....

Adam, looks like Carisle will go on with ya or without ya. We did have quite a few C3VR members stop at our parking area espically after I put up my small banner. If we set up one of the awnings right on the corner it will be seen by a large precentage of the traffic going in and out each day. Make sure one of us has the x-tra large travelin banner

OK here's the deal. Lori's b-day is Sept 24 (right around lukes bbq) so this past Oct she comes in and says "I know what I want for my b-day" I say you just had a b-day....she says "next year" Now I'm puzzeled as this woman never asks for anything....She has always wanted to see Kenny Chesney in concert and 2011 he is going on tour. Long story short I was able to get tickets for Gillette Stadium Row 6 but it is on same weekend as Carlisle (tickets sold out in 8 minutes). She has always given me anything so she for sure deserves it, just for being married to me (30 years this upcoming Feb 14) she deserves it!LOL Santa put them in her stocking...she had no idea Wink
We will have to make our gathering trip the biggie for the year with our C3VR family
So thats the story..................

Just so happens I have 3 of them available - since I won't be setting up the C3/C4/C6 VR spaces.  Might even cut you a deal if you pass out flyers to folks you talk to.  Let me know if you are interested, and I'll let you know when I find out what the cost will be this year.

Hey Paul that sounds like fun for the swap meet...just an FYI though ..there are tons of people selling parts there..last year by 2 on Saturday right after Mark got his top I walked around the swap meet area and more than half of them were packing up to go home..I talked to many of them and all said that they weren't selling much if anything at all..I do know that the GM performance guys sold a ton of stuff..but they do new cars not the older stuff..I wouldn't bet the farm on selling to much unless you are really cheap..EBAY may actually sell easier too..It was hard to see all these guys with real factory parts,,old stuff like NOS..didn't sell much cause they wanted what they thought something was worth not what someone was willing to pay for it..I have been to Carlilse now for at least 15 years and the last five I have seen a heavy if not massive decline there..blame the internet I guess..makes things much more competitive..or just the fact that most of these guys selling parts think that they deserve and will get whatever they want for the part they have..I walked away from 2 parts that I could have used that were still in the GM box because it just wasn't even remotely a good price..not even close..I asked if I could get a better price if I bought both and he declined..so I walked away..no sale..just a thought..don't get the hopes up to high on that..but on the other hand it is a fun place to hang out and BBQ!!!

I got and extra room if ya need one also.

I know this is early, but wouldn't it be cool this year to have a host hotel so we could all hang out and cruise in to the show together? I would be willing to help with this if anyone is interested!

That's a good idea Barry..I think everyone stayed all over the place last year..I am just south of Carlisle about half hour..not sure how easy it would be to find a hotel in Carlisle or not..North York has some places as well as Dilsburg..

The Holiday Inn in Mechanicsburg is great (thats where I stay in June with the Yellow Mustang crowd) and they are always nice to deal with.

Frank & I will be there & be happy to help out however it ends up going (handing out fylers at the C3VR parking, or a swap meet space...or both.  We would not be in for the hotel, as we will be bringing the "road whale" again & staying at Dogwood Acres in Newville.

I know this has been dormant for a while, but we really ought to get started planning this year. After all, we don't want to lose our preferred parking (I think we have a good spot).

I've decided that I'm going to keep one of my three swap meet spaces, even if I don't use them this year.  So ID-50 will be our swap meet space.  I haven't decided yet if I'll ask anyone to setup and man a booth there.  I'll likely just ask folks to have some flyers and a banner with them at the parking area.

Adam- Is someone going to coordinate ID-50?
Is there another thread to schedule people to be there?
Do we have a plan?
I will help at the booth and our reserved parking area.
I could even set up my tent at ID-50 and guard the merchandise at night.

Dave, I appreciate the offer to help, but the effort/cost of getting supplies up there is just not worth it.  I think I'm just going to skip using the space this year.  I know in the past, a bunch of folks enjoyed hanging in the C3 parking area, set up a pop-up tent, hung a banner and had flyers available.  I think that is the route I'm going to take this year.

So I just need to make sure that someone has a banner to use, if not, I can send it to them along with a bunch of flyers.

So, whomever wants to help out with that, please let me know.

Thanks!

There was something in the mix about all of us staying in the same hotel. Is that still being worked on, or has it been voted down? I would like to make reservations to attend before the rooms are all taken, or hotels filled up.  M-n-S
