I have be holding free tech seminars at Carlisle the past several years now. I have been asked to return for another and didn't know if anyone here attended any in the past. I am scheduled for Friday afternoon and go over rebuilding steering boxes, trailing arms and differentials- both stock and custom built for HP applications. If you plan on going this year stop in to say hi. The building for the seminar will be posted, I don't know yet but my space is the same L116-117.
See ya there!

Gary, this is great news! My '80 needs all three, and I may do them myself this winter. I have learned that the later C3 diff is different than the early C3 diff. Will you go into those kinds of details? Doug

Hi Doug,
No I stay away from the 80-82 Dana's. They are about the worst of the 63-82 run. While some stand by them, others machine a steel cap for them or install a C4 posi I won't take them in. Send it to Bair's. The design is weak from the aluminum caps, clutch retainer issue with the posi's and the pinion design.

I will cover converting an iron diff to an 80-82, overall it's a much better option then putting money into the DANA.

That sounds like good advice.  I look forward to learning more next Friday.

Thanks!

Howdy,

I am bummed that I won't make the Friday seminar! We will not arrive till Saturday morning.

I want my steering box rebuilt, by myself if possible, as I am fairly competent mechanically.  Your seminar would have been invaluable.  Sorry to be missing it.

Mike
