"Drive Your Corvette to Work Day"

Celebrate the Enjoyment of America’s Sports Car

EFFINGHAM, IL – Friday, June 27th is the 8th Annual Drive Your Corvette To Work Day, sponsored by Mid America Motorworks. In honor of Drive Your Corvette To Work Day, enthusiasts across America will make “America’s Sports Car” their commuter car for the day.

“Drive Your Corvette To Work Day is held on the Friday closest to June 30th, when the first Corvette rolled off the assembly line in 1953 in Flint, Michigan. We encourage every Corvette owner to drive his or her car on June 27th because it is the perfect way to say ‘Happy Birthday’ to America’s favorite sports car,” said Mike Yager, founder and “Chief Cheerleader” of Mid America Motorworks, the world’s leading supplier of Corvette parts and accessories.

Mid America Motorworks promotes Drive Your Corvette To Work Day among Corvette owners and clubs. The goal is to have as many Corvette owners as possible drive their car to work that day. Launched in 2001, Mid America Motorworks’ Drive Your Corvette To Work Day is an annual event celebrated by thousands of Corvette owners. This year’s event is especially noteworthy as 2008 is GM’s 100th anniversary. The Chevrolet Corvette is arguably GM’s greatest contribution to the automotive world.

“We understand why many owners consider their Corvette to be a special car and only drive it occasionally,” said Yager. “But we think driving your Corvette to work, at least one day a year, is an excellent way to demonstrate just how popular Corvettes are. Wave to other Corvette owners-- it’s a perfect chance for Corvette owners to meet new Corvette owners.”

Corvette owners who observe “Drive Your Corvette To Work Day” are encouraged to send photos or high resolution digital pictures of their car at work to clubs@mamotorworks.com or P.O. Box 1368, Effingham, IL 62401. Mid America Motorworks will post as many pictures as possible on their website, www.mamotorworks.com/corvette. Visit our site to see past DYCTWD events.

I wasn't able to drive my Vette to work last year because I was on vacation.
Actually, I was on my way home from the C3VR Gathering.
At noon on that Friday, I pulled into Mid-America Motorworks, expecting to see the employee parking lot full of Vettes.
But there were only 2 or 3.
I would think that it would be a requirement to work there, you must drive a Vette.Big%20smile

I wonder if the insurance will make an exception since it is sort of an event of public interest.

This is all great but it should be not only drive your Vette to work day but also just drive your Vette every place you go day! "Corvette, Since June 30th 1953" should be displayed in our windows (maybe that's an idea that can work). Aaron19762008-06-06 12:04:57

i think i'll take the day off and drive around.

where i work, they recently forced all employees to park in the upper stone parking lot and we've got some a##holes that like to leave the parking lot with stones flying.
i'll never park my car up there.

but for me, it's worth taking a vacation day to drive around Smile

I'll drive it around but no driving to work for me....

2 reasons.... I don't drive to work & if I did like Joel I wouldn't because I would come out to a door ding for sure.

If I can't park em by other plastic friends I get nervous..... remember ..... it's just a car........

By all means that would be a perfectly acceptable excuse to do a makeup day on Monday, At least as far as I'm concerned and if it works for you who cares what anybody else says! Be sure to tell us all about it after you pick it up.

Looks like it just might work for me this year. The other guy's gonna bring the tools and all that stuff. So, I just might drive right past the job site and keep on going. Gonna be a nice day.Tongue

Going back a way here in movies but what was that movie where the guy parked his sports car at this night club put the cover on and all night long people kept running into it as they parked?
When he left at the end of the night and uncovered it stuff just fell off it.
Not to wish any thing bad on ya just had that visionLOL

Ok mine is here. Looked at it when I parked it and one of the back road hat a bit of Cow dodo. Just a bit but I could not stand it. I went out at first break and cleaned it!
I will not do that route on the way home! Shocked

:auto: Well I drove her to work today. The first car I passed was a C4 (big wave). That was to only Vette I saw all the way into Grand Rapids. Rained just enough to spot her up.Angry

Well I drove it to work today, but forgot my camera. That's OK, got plenty of pictures from the last 4 years.

Didn't drive mine - weather liars said 40% chance of thunder storms. Of course, not a drop of rainAngry. But I did see a group of about 10 parked at the local Hooters as I drove by today.

I was going to drive mine but there was a 50 % chance of rain and thunderstorms, That NEVER HAPPENED!! so I decided on a late evening drive. Grabbed the keys for the vette and left the keys to the door.Censored So I had to brteak into my own house after a nice leizurly long drive!

Okay, so we took Blizz out for a spin and to dinner. When dinner was over I comae out to a torrential downpour. ( I got soaked to my skivies getting to the car.

Bright side is I don't have to wash the car now. I brought it home shammied it down and hung her red nylons up to dry.

Gave me a chance to Dry her off and put on the new red leather bra...

Always something positive in every negative..... Ah..... "Life Is Good..... !"

So that I would remember, I just wrote Vette on the calendar at work for Friday.  One of my employees was on vacation last week and came in in on Monday and asked what that meant.   I told her I was reminding myself to drive my car that day and that it was a national event.  She asked "what if you don't have one to drive?".  One of my other employees just said "then you are just a f****** loser".
