That's a really, really expensive solution ($2K) for a carb thats loading up. For a mild 350, you could go with an Edelbrock 1406 and will basically run out of the box and be very close. IMHO...

I agree its expensiveUnhappy
I am on my 2nd performer as i thought the 1st must be defective but its still having the same issue around town. Again on the road it runs like a champ but stop lights are a problem. (i may just have to runem!)
everything else seems to check ok. If i have to efi to solve this i just will have to bite the bullet. Any other thoughts??
Thanks again

I made the switch this summer.

Rather than a whole bunch of explanation take a look at my post here:

http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c3-tech-performance/3670852-fitech-go-efi-review.html

Overall I am very happy I made the switch.  Good performance and reasonable price.  My kit cost $1350 including the fuel system.

Thanks great news to hear Kevin. Sounds like it all went together ok for you. Any minor glitches during the install?

Yeah it is a more money than a carb, but if ones budget allows EFI is hard to beat.
Can you post pictures sometime? I'd really like to see it.

Really no glitches except a few busted knuckles!!!!!! I let it learn on its own which was really close to optimum but I decided to tweak the WOT AFR ratio. Just move it 1% at a time and run it for a bit. Honestly I may reset and let it go back to the factory defaults. For now i'm just seeing if I can do better, but i don't think it can be done!! The only glitch i have found is I think I am burning more fuel----But really I don't even watch MPG or GPM!!
I just drive it like I stole it!

I will post some pics later.

Kevin, that looks sweet brother! With that air cleaner on there most won't even know a carb no longer lurks under there. Great job! Thumbs Up

Worth the $$ wasn't it? Wink

Is that a Wilwood hydraulic fluid reservoir for a hydraulic clutch I spy there?

Sarge..... Good eye! yup i snuck Wildwood Hydro for the TKO. You are correct, no one knows that im injected with the large KN and cover. thanks it is sweet and i'm kind of proud how the install went. no kidding--bolt her on and wire up. All wires were perfectly labeled so even a plumber like me had no problem. The damn thing tunes itself and really runs like a bat outa hell! The only problem is you have to be careful taking off as it is instant power. I just may have to get used to itWink

FYI the only issue I have run into is the cheap chinese MAP sensor that comes with the kit. Replace with Delco or similar and it will be super stable.

Jeez, you'd think the company would appreciate a little feedback on their products. That bothers me when they "think" their stuff is ok when in fact it was not. Like you said, we all know better. But, now we can advise others of this issue if they use this system. Glad to hear your car is running good. Thumbs Up

Sarge, thought i would give an update as i have been beating it up for a few months now!!!
Im going to knock on wood here.....But it is still performing perfect with no problems. Anyone who wants to do it, I now say go for it but if your using the fast efi and have problems change out the map sensor and it will run great.

That's awesome to hear Kevin! Thumbs Up

I just ordered a EFI unit from FiTech for my wife's newly acquired '87 Olds 442 w/350 Olds "Rocket" engine. I've heared very good review's about this system, so I guess I'll be a guinea pig. The FiTech unit starts at $795. They are doing a $100 rebate until the end of May. I opted for the 600 hp model incase I want to get a little crazy under there. lol.

Thanks for the update!

Sarge, did they give you a shipping date? My understanding is that they are hundreds backlogged (600 hp version) due to supplier shippng issues. I like what I've read on their tbi's but the fcc is causing nightmares.

Greg, I was told any where from 3-6 weeks.

Here is a statement from their Facebook page. It sounds like they are getting things together. I don't mind the wait as long as the product is good.

I would like to thank everyone for hanging in there while we build our production to meet demand. We have to say that it has been a thrill having such success with this product and we are increasing production by at least 20% weekly! Each system is fully dyno tested on an engine and we will not sacrifice quality for speed and supply.(You will smell the fuel when you open your box !!) We expect to be at full production within 4 weeks and are investing in all tooling and manpower to make sure that quality is never sacrificed to meet demand no matter what. Thank You for supporting our EFI and please know that your Fitech EFI is worth the wait!!

Nobody ever expected the success we are having with this product and we feel blessed to be part of this awesome wave!
Thanks,
Ken Farrell

I just saw that on their page as well and was going to post it up. I also like that they test every unit, I hope that whatever the issue(s) ith the fcc is that it gets fixed. Looking fwd to reading your review.

Sarge,  I'm looking at that same setup (from Pace Performance) to put on "BIGBRRD".  Just don't want to be fooling around with a carb in the mountains.  Going to use their Fuel Command Canister and pull the charcoal filter out.  Their tech suggested using one of the return vapor lines to drain any excess fuel back to the tank.

Hey Jim, I'll update you with my opinion of their system when I get it and get it installed. I think it should work with your shaker hood scoop on BIGBRRD. I measured the height on a old Rochester 4 bbl carb. They are the same height.

Kevin - still liking the TBFI conversion?  Any other issues pop up?

Sarge - Have you gotten all your FITech stuff yet?  The TBFI unit showed up yesterday but the fuel command center is on back order and the kids at Pace Performance don't have an eta on it yet.  Sent an e-mail to the FITech kids late last week but haven't received a reply from them yet.  Was hoping to do the swap over the holiday weekend but will have to put a hold on it until the FCC shows up.

Jim, I now have my all FiTech stuff. Looks like I will be tackling that project in August now.

I had a couple unexpected projects this summer come up. Plus with preparation for the Annual Gathering my play time really got shortened up. But I will keep you in the loop when I bust the wrenches out. lol.

Thanks - that photo was taken in the fall of 2008 shortly after we got it back from the body shop (the first time).  It went back in the next spring after the paint had time to cure for another round of color sand-n-buff before the "screamin' chicken" and the rest of the graphics went on.  Have also replaced the original snowflakes with the 8 inch snowflakes.  As nice as it looked then I think it looks a lot better now.  I'll have to get a more recent photo linked in.
