I am in the process of implementing the new forum software.  It looks like I still have A LOT of work a head of me, but this should get us started.

The nice C3VR top menu will not be available until I have time to work on this more.

Please let me know if you run into any problems.

Thanks!!

Well, since you axed...
The icons that used to be on the bottoms of individual posts, such as the "Edit", "P/M", "Profile", etc., are not there. I don't see a place to check "Who's on-line/Users on-line", but I have that as bookmark, anyway.
I did notice the "Memberlist", and the "Calendar" a the top. That's kewl!
I have to turn off my pop-up blocker to get the smilies("more")- that's new too!
Also...(remember, YOU axed! ) if I want to put a smilie in, it always puts it at the very bottom, or the END of the post, not where I want it. Like, if I wanted to go back and put one after the first sentence of the post, it will put it at the end instead, no matter where the cursor is.
Minor stuff, I'm sure. New stuff will take a bit to get all ironed out, and I'm sure you can do it!
Oh, did I mention my "Post Delay' problem has gone away?! See if we can keep this feature!!
Thanx for all the hard werk you do, Adam!

Well crap!
Now that the ads are back on the pages, the "delay" has returned. How could this be? This morning, when you first started the change-over, my posts were lightning quick. Now, they are back to Pony Express quick.

Also, if you go back and "Edit" a post, the text gets changed...and the "smilies" are no longer smilies...they are text.

You have to hit "Reply" in order to get all of the features for posting, such as "Insert Image", or the normal "Emoticon" view.

I'm such a whinner, no

Near the bottom of the page, where it says "Copyright Web Wiz Guide" it should say "This page was generated in x.xxx seconds."
What does it say when you experience the delay you are talking about?
They are all under 1.000 for me right now.

I have seen it say "This page was generated in 76.ooo seconds"!!
Earlier today, when you first changed over to the new stuff( I think I noticed around 12pm?), it was kicking booty!! I was clicking, and seeing the post come up in less than 1 sec. Then, as more stuff was added/returned, it got back to the looong delays again.
The "page was generated" doesn't always correspond to the actual time it takes, in my case.
I'll check on this post, and see what the time diff. is.

This post took about 8 sec. to appear.(an improvement to be sure, but will it last?)

Those should be back now.  (If you're looking for moderator controls, I still have to reset those).

This was part of the blue menu bar at the top.  This should be back on most pages now.

I'm not sure if these will stay.  We'll see.

This, of course, is a local issue for you and your setup.  Popups from C3VR should always be allowed!  I will never put pop-up ADS on here.  Only PMs and other non-ad items will ever pop-up here!
Is this still an issue for you?  I just tried it, and it works fine.  You just need to make sure you put your text-cursor where you want the smiley, then click ONLY the smiley icon (or the more... link, then an icon on the pop-up list).  If you accidentally click on any other area other than a smiley icon (like the gray space around them) and THEN click the icon, it won't work correctly because it loses it's lock on where you wanted it.  Make sense?

It's gettin there! Most of the stuff I mentioned has returned.
I have had a problem putting links, and images in the posts, tho. I will wait for a while, and let you get it all set-up, as I should've done to start with, eh?

Nope, it still places the "smilies" at the end. The "thumbs up was ment to be at the end of the first sentence. It's kewl tho, i'll give it some time.
Good job, Adam!!

I haven't had any issues yet but I was just a little confused the first time I added a link in a post becuase of the new format. It work out ok. I also noticed that new post for the day use to be high lighted in yellow and are not now. It’s not a problem, I just have to look a little closer to see whats new.

Thanks and keep up the good work Adam

If you use the "REPLY" button on the last post(or any post in the thread), instead of going to the "Quick Reply" area, the links/image buttons werk the same as the "old" software did.

The "REPLY" button will only let you see the one post you are "replying" to in the thread, unlike the old set-up, where you could scroll back thru the entire thread page. That makes it harder for those of us with bad memories...

We got used to the forum change last year, and we'll figure this one out, too.

I really miss having the "Profile" info on the left side, by our screen names, and the "Profile" buttons in the post boxes.

One thing I've noticed. When browsing using Internet Explorer, when I try to use the up and down arrows to scroll the page, it doesn't work. I've tried on many different computers. It works in Mozilla.

Ok, I found that just selecting the body of the page won't let me scroll using the arrow keys. If I click in the light grey areas between posts, or the dark grey areas at the top and bottom, I can scroll with the arrow keys.Wacko

Larry...check to see how the "Toggle Email Notification for this Topic" is set. Lower left of the post box. I think this is the same as the old "Notify me by e-mail of responses to this post" thing.
When you click on it, it automatically changes the setting, and will tell you that you WILL or WILL NOT receive e-mail notifications.Adams' Apple2006-09-19 15:23:11

Here's something else I've noticed. Whenever I get a notification of a new PM by e-mail, I click the clink in the e-mail, which takes me to a login screen - no problem. I enter my username and password, and the login attampt fails (the info was entered correctly). Multiple attempts do not succeeed. However, I can just click on the link to take me to the forums, and I'm auto-magically logged in and can go wherever I need to.

John, it used to be you had to be logged onto the forum for the e-mail links to work. May be that way again, with the new software?
I never have to log on to this site, unless I log-off.
When I do log on, I simply click the "remember me?" button, and I'm automatically in. IF...I clear my "cookies", I have to log on, also.
I never click on the e-mail links anymore, anyway...it's just easier for me to click on my page 1 bookmark, and I go directly to P/M, if there is a new one....if not, it goes to the active topics page.

The button is gone, but if you click the member's name on the left side of their post, it takes you to their profile.
When I do a "Quick Reply", there are 8 choices above the reply box.
But, when I do a "Quote" there are a lot more choices that show up to the left of the message box and above the message box.....hhhuuuummmmConfused

On the "Quick Reply" I don't even get an "Insert Image" box to click on. Confused
"Quick Reply" is new feature that is just that...to post a Quick Reply.  If you just want to enter some quick comments without formating or images or anything fancy, it is quicker to use the Quick Reply form.  If you want to add formating or images, etc, you should use the or  or  buttons.  There is nothing to fix here. This is just a new "feature" of the forum that may take a little getting used to.

Thanks.

Adam, something somewhere is hammering the ending HTML tags.  It has been popping up in thread posts occasionally since the new version went in (the above QUOTE is an example).  But where I'm seeing it the most is when someone maintains their forum profile.  More often than not their forum signature is getting whacked, even when they didn't change anything in it - just changed something else in their profile.

This is happening anytime you "Edit" a post, or even in the P/M, also. It really wreaks havoc if you have a link, or "image" in the post. I've learned how to compensate for it, but it is weird.
I just assumed Adam knew about it, and was werking on a fix.

I may have found the fix for this issue.

Supposedly, it only happens if you are not using the RTE (WYSIWYG) Editor. (can be selected in your Forum Settings).

My "setting" was "NO", for the enable. I set it like this for some other problem I was having a long time ago.(gee..THERE'S a surprize!) I just changed it to "Yes", so this will be a test.....TongueOuchCry

Otay...THAT ONLY took TWO MINUTES to post, from click, till appearance!AngryAngryAngry   BUT...it DID solve the "edit" issue. I think I would rather just fix the errors in the edits as I go!!ConfusedLOL
Even the "preview post" takes about 30 seconds now..
I will change mine back the way it were...Ouch

Hecko All!
Lately, I have noticed that my head is getting too round.  Is this a new feature of the improvements made in posting, or what?

If not, please let me know so I can go down 25-35%.

Thanks.
