"Global Warming" prostitutes have managed to bring about another change that is gonna bite ALL of us in the butts, financially. Remember when they told us the the "new" 134 refrigerant would save the planet, and we could do away with that nasty old R12? Sure you do...
NOW....apparently 134 ain't good enough...the planet is still goin to h ell in a handbasket, due to the 134 refrigerant depleting the ozone....Wacko
The solution? You got it...mandates fr a NEW refrigerant, R1234yf. This stuff will cost 10 times what the current 13 does. It also requires new equipment($$$$$$$$$$$$$) to handle, as well as new components on the cars, due to the flammability. You heard me...this stuff is flammable, and will require a "heavy duty" condenser to handle the very likely explosion, should it happen.
On top of all that, the stuff is NOT, I repeats, NOT retro-fit-able to older systems using R12 OR 134.
So far, they have not made any rulings/decisions on if current certified A/C techs will have to start over on the certs....

GM will be he first domestic car maker to introduce this crap, in the 2013 line.

I saw this stuff a little while ago and thought it was a hoax untill I googled it..I guess its fitting that government motors is using it first..let them have a few explosions and see what happens..sometimes the enviroweenies really need to step back and pick a worthy cause..stuff like this just make people hate taking their cars in for repairs even more..and blame the shop for the higher cost..which in turn makes most people not fix anything..which again affects the amount of work for us guys fixing them..so where is my bail out bama? Oh that's right..I work for a living.
