I thought  this was a good idea for your roadside emergency kit.  It comes folded flat.   It actually has a plastic bladder inside.  Like the cardboard wine boxes.   Hold about a gallon I think.

Cost is $28.50 for a 6 pack shipped.

Cool idea, but I have always been in the mind set to DRIVE to the gas station, not to walk. When my gauge says half, I get gas.

Yeah Larry, nice size straw LOL
Actually not a bad emergency piece to keep in your trunk.
I had a pick up that once the gauge hit bottom it then went back to 1/8 tank. Walked a few times before that puppy went down the road. Evil%20Smileebo

Nice idea Steve.  Thanks

I think it's acceptable to run out of gas in any car ONCE.  When you know where true empty is, you shouldn't hit it again.

Of course, I"m with Mike.  I'd rather drive.  I haven't run out of gas in a gar since I was a poor teenager.  Now that I'm a poor adult, I just pull out the plastic!!

Seriously.  I can remember running out of gas in my parent's station wagon that I had to drive and coasting a half mile down the road right into the gas station.  Ahh, the good old days, when $5 in gas might last you more than 20 miles...

I should get that for my daughter.  No matter how much we tell her to gas up when it reaches half a tank when she has the time, convenience and decent weather, she always seems to wait until the warning light comes on, and it's either night, cold or raining before fueling.

One of these days she's gonna run out of gas and call me for help.  I think I'm gonna take my time getting to her.

Now that Meg is driving she was worried about running out of gas.  Being a kid just starting college, her cash is tight.

First, we filled her tank.

Then I told her to treat the top of the tank like the bottom of the tank.  When it hits 1/2 tank, it's empty.  It's just as easy to keep the top half full as the bottom 1/2
