Is ther a valve between the head light acuators to raise the lights evenly.Or do I need to replace both acuators?

The headlight that is rising slowly, may have a seal leak or the lift mechanism may be sticking, the latest one I have done is completely new and the passenger's side is just a bit slower, is yours the same?

Very rarely do they go up evenly,it's always a race to see which one gets to the top first, same thing when going down.there is no adjustment LOLShocked

Rick,

My right headlight doesn't close or open until the other one is just about closed or open.

I'm just happy that they work.

Along with hot feet, leaks, etc., it adds to the charm of the C-3.

I agree with the charm of owning and driving a C-3. I get the idea that it's the norm for the ligths to open like they do. Thanks for the info.

I agree, its just nice to have them work, because with these babies, no pop up means no light ( its a shame these cars don't have fog lights ).

Rack it up to the joys of vacuum.  The lights on "The Toy" pop up unevenly but they drop pretty much together.

The 'lectric lights on "The Beast" flip over almost exactly the same (especially after replacing the nylon bushings).

The timing problem may be in the relays, not the actuators. Try switching the relays and see if the problem reverses.  Also the lights will work just fine with one relay. You can Tee off of the two lines going to the actuators. I did this to my 78 and the lights popped up together.

You can always reach up from underneath and raise them by hand, then lower them the same way.

It's a bit tricky, but not bad.  Can be dirty though, so if you're in your Sunday clothes, use a rag.

A good cleaning and lubrication with white lithium on every moving part can help.  You can try switching hoses from side to side to see if it the relay or headlight and actuator.

I agree with wanting them to work together.  I am kind of anal about those things, and spend way more time than is justified trying to get them as even as possible.

I put a new actuator on the driver's side, now that is the slow one coming up.
They go down together pretty close.
Welcome to the wonderful world of vacuum.

My passenger side headlight reaches the top just before the drivers side.

Went for a drive 2 days ago and came home in the dark.
When I raised the headlights I remembered someone asking about that.

Like many others I am just glad they work at all!

Have you changed the filter and check valve up by the firewall?  One is a thru (one end on each end, this one is white on my car) the other is two on one end, one on the other (this one is gold on my car).

My C3 is a happy car and winks in a approval when we take a spin at night.
I have no plans on stopping her from flirting!

Having just worked through my wipers, I'm very thankful the headlights still come up and go down.  And yes, they do not work together.  Wink

My 68 worked perfect. Both headlights came up at the same time.
However once I put the new 427 engine with a comp cam, no longer will the headlights or wiper doors come up without getting  the RPM's up and then they come up very slowly. The Cam made the vacuum weaker.
Just wondering is their a vacuum booster that could be installed to make the vacuum work better.
Usually the problem is in the relay leaking or vacuum hose.
