I know there has been a lot of confusion as to how to create a forum signature on the new forums. So I thought I'd post a thread about how to do it.
If you wish to keep your old signature:
1) Go to your Member "Profile" (under the "My Account" menu.)
2) Find the forum signature box
3) With your mouse, highlight all the text in the box and copy it
4) Go into the forums
5) Click the "Settings" button near the top of the page.
6) Click the "Profile Information" link
7) In the box marked "Signature" paste in your old signature.
8) If you have forum tags ie. |IMG| or |URL| in your old signature, you need to convert them to the new forum tags
8a) Replace the first | in tags like |IMG| |URL| |/IMG| |/URL| with [
8b) Replace the second | in tags with ]
9) For a list of valid forum tags, click the "Forum Codes" link to the left of the signature box.
10) Finally... Test Your Signature! But NOT in a forum thread!
10a) Use the "Signature Preview" link just below the signature box.
11) If you would like to automatically include your signature with all new posts, click the Yes option for "Always attach my signature to posts"
If you wish to create a new signature:
1) While in the forums, Click the "Settings" button near the top of the page.
2) Click the "Profile Information" link
3) Create your new signature in the box marked "Signature".
4) If you would like to create links or images in your signature, you need to use the New forum tags
4a) For a list of valid forum tags, click the "Forum Codes" link to the left of the signature box.
5) Finally... Test Your Signature! But NOT in a forum thread!
5a) Use the "Signature Preview" link just below the signature box.
6) If you would like to automatically include your signature with all new posts, click the Yes option for "Always attach my signature to posts"
HERE'S A TIP!
If you are using a picture that is on C3VR.com, to save character space:
Instead of creating the link like this:
|IMG|https://www.c3vr.com/member_uploads/1_100/4/mypic.jpg|/IMG|
create your link like this:
|IMG|/member_uploads/1_100/4/mypic.jpg|/IMG|
If you are creating a link to a picture or page on C3VR, create your link like this:
|URL|/member_pages/1_100/4/mypage.html|/URL|
*** Of course, make sure to use the new Forum Codes for IMG and URL!
AND A REMINDER!
If you are going to include an image in your signature please resize the image, or a copy of it, to be no more than 200 pixels wide.
If you need assistance, please contact Norsky by IM, PM or email.

any chance of changing the two hundred character limit..
i used two small pics with links to larger versions and with the long urls the characters get eaten up quick..
our old limit was 750..
mine used well over 700
I don't know why, but for some reason the same signiture pic that I have used in the old format will not work in the new format. I followed the instructions to the letter and cannot get it to work. I can take the link paste it into my web browser and it will take me right too it. I can even click the image button on a standard reply, paste the link and it will show up.
Can one of you sharp computer guru, moderator, techie types tell me why?
I have to do an edit, because this is starting to freak me out. It showed up while I was doing my reply, but when i hit the post button the red X appeared.

Matt,
Are you sure it used to work? I don't think snapfish lets you post images on other sites. You should be able to post it as a URL link, but not display it as an image. What is the URL snapfish is telling you to use?

[QUOTE=Norsky]According to Adam it's on the 'to-do' list, just not very close to the top at the moment. [/QUOTE]
i can live with that
Yes it use to work. Also the photo archive I use for my photos is part of my internet service I pay for with Netzero on my home account. Its not big deal I will just move it to my personal file folder here on C3VR. I just find it strange that it will not work in the new format.
Matt,
Check with NetZero to see if anything changed on their end related to accessing image files stored in their world from other sites. ISP's sometimes change the rules without letting folks know. Just a thought.

Hi Bill,
I think you were trying to change your signature in your main C3VR profile. After the switch to the new forum-ware everyone has a separate profile for the forums. It is accessed by clicking on the 'Settings' icon near the top of any page with in the forums.
I updated it for you based on what was in your old signature. If you have any questions or need some help modifying it let me know.

Thanks for the help, but, I must still be doing something wrong. I can't get a pic of my ride to show , no matter what I do . It can't be this difficult to do,can it ?

I'm not sure what the problem was, but I just eddited your profile and put your image in your Signature. Take a look and see if that is what you did.

Now for a photo of my vette.
Now I'm done......
cilrah's forum profile is updated now. Look for a sweet signature going forward...!!!
A reminder for all - spaces and special characters in file names can (and will!) cause problems for you. A good rule of thumb is to name files with an underscore character ( _ ) or a dash ( - ) instead of a space. Parentheses " ( ) ", braces " { } ", and brackets " [ ] " are a few of the special characters to avoid using in file names.

OK, guess I must be "challenged". Tried following the bouncing ball to the letter, and can't get a signature line with picture. Tried several ways and codes, including both [] and || brackets, but still only get:
"Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a005e'
Invalid use of Null: 'replace'
/forum/functions/functions_filters.asp, line 430"
Sent a PM to Norsky asking help, but he hasn't seen it yet. Anyone else give me a hand?
Thanks,
Varmint
There's been a few questions lately about how to get an image into signatures so I thought it would be a good time to bring this thread back to the top.
If you're having problems getting an image to display in your signature please check out the first entry in this thread. Keep in mind that since the new forum-ware was installed several months ago every member has two profiles. One is the main C3VR profile (where the signature setup USED to be maintained) and the other is the forums profile (where the signature setup is now).
Hope this helps some. I'll be happy to assist anyone as best I can.

Excellent!
Sorry about the size of the pic, I am just happy its there! I will try to fix it later.
Apparently "size" does matter.

Fixed! Nice looking ride! Gotta LUV a RED Vette...!!!
Just a reminder to everyone to use the signature preview link when testing out your signature changes.
Also a reminder that the recommended image widths are 200 pixels for signature images and 400 pixels for images inserted into posts. Images larger in size should be inserted using the URL tags instead of the IMG tags.
Thanks for the pic resize Norsky!!
Hey Norsky.... Thanks for the quick help
The photo looks good on my sig. Thanks again.

Maybe my pic is too large (I don't know how to reduce it; http://www.C3VR.com/member_uploads/7401_7500/7453/LT-1 b.jpg)? I know I don't have too many characters.....so what gives?
