So, I'm new to the C3VR forum, but have been looking for a Shark for a number of months. I located a beauty up near Rochester, NY, almost four hours from my home in central NYS, a 1979 dark blue 4-speed with dual carbs, chromed-out engine compartment, Centerforce performance clutch, custom upholstered interior and side pipes, not to mention numerous other upgrades and modifications for an amazing price, near the low end of my buying range. Two Forum members, Sarge81 and 68vet427, drove an hour or more from their homes to help the newbie inspect this car. Having passed muster with Darryl and Joe on Saturday, I drove up on Monday to purchase the car, $1K less than the seller's asking price. I have landed a beautiful Blue Shark! Thanks, guys, for your invaluable assistance!

If Sarge said the car was good, then you're in good shape Congratulations on your acquisition! Is this your first Vette?

ebo, I have you to thank for putting me in touch with Sarge! You Da Man !!! Got her plated and insured yesterday, and drove her to school today. The fourth grade boys were out of their minds with excitement. Can't wait for you to see it! Weather permitting, I'll drive it up to the next MVCC meeting. Will post some pics later this evening.

C3VR family, I want to once again thank you for being the great group that you are! When Rudy joined this group and I saw how close to my home town his location was, we started chatting and he drove up to one our local meetings to meet me. We talked about finding him a Vette and assured him that a keeper would be found. I told him no matter where in the USA he found a vette that he was interested in, this family would be right by his side to make sure it was a solid ride. Rudy and I went back and forth looking at a dozen vettes. One was in Ct. I PM'd Mark (Silverfox) a lifetime member to see if he could check out a silver anniv within a 30 minute drive of him. Mark said sure. Now I have never met Mark (yet) but that was not an issue. Thanks Mark! When Rudy told me he found one near Buffalo I put in a message to my buddy Darryl and of course he had no problem at all. Then wild man Joe came sliding in with his Motion Clone and about broke all the windows at the dinner they gathered at before going with Rudy to check out this vette. Their experience I'm sure helped the seller make the right deal with Rudy. It's so nice to see this type of closeness in this group, it's always a pleasure to spend someone else's money! Again a huge Thank You! to every member on this site for being who you are! ebo

Thanks for all the congrats and good wishes, folks! Much appreciated! For the record, this is my second Vette. The first was a '92 black rose metallic I bought from its first owner in '99. At the time, I'd been looking for a C3, but was sidetracked by the near-mint '92, with only 10,000 miles on her. I drove it nearly year-round for 9 years, and sold it with 168,000 miles on it. Recently, I had a CD which I'd had for years prior to getting married, and my wife actually encouraged me to cash it out and purchase the C3 I never got around to getting. I promise not to abuse my Blue Shark like I did my C4! Hey, Mark and ebo, what and when is "beach day"? Is it Vettes at Sylvan Beach? Thanks again, everyone, for making the newbie feel SO welcome!

I'm glad you are happy with your new ride Rudy. It was a pleasure to meet you and Joe.

Have you addressed any of those couple minor issues yet? Or are you waiting on warmer weather like we are?

Hopefully we get to meet up sometime over the summer. Keep us posted on your vette projects.

Hi David, Even though, currently, unable to enjoy driving the car due to a minor medical issue, I still have to pinch myself everytime I catch a glimpse of her outside the house! Anyway, I hope to get out your way at some point this summer to meet up with Joe (68vet427) in Macedon Center. He was one of the fellas looking over the car with me, the other one being Darryl (Sarge81) out in West Seneca. Will give a holler when plans begin to take shape. Hey, the new face pic is great!

Hey, I forgot to mention I rode in Joe's Motion Clone for two 7-mile drives through Livingston County farmland. She's pretty, loud, and makes a presence before she arrives, what with vibrating all the windows in town!
