Ahhh fun times, I think this White car does not like to travel outside NY
Thought the pedal felt a bit funny while running some back roads with Shimer's, and Mooney's friday evening. Sat morning on the way to fairgrounds brake light came on.
Looked under car as much as you can while on the grass and did not see any wet spots. Frank went wheel to wheel and put his fingers in the wheel slots. Rear drivers side was black, not wet but black.
Topped off the rear master as it was down about 1/2 inch.
Drove it home yesterday being very aware of my surroundings. The traffic on 81 was very light and we had no problems.
I placed an order today for new O-ring rebuild kits for all four calipers, four new SS brake hoses ($19 more than stock) new rear pads as I'm sure that side is wet, and a rebuild kit for Master cyl.
I figured the system has not been flushed clean in 25 years. I'll start tearing it down tonight, blow out the lines, run some brake clean through them till their looking clean. When parts get here I'll put it all back together.
So any little tricks or "To Do's" I should watch for along the way?
While I'm at it list
- clean and polish rims
- rotate tires
- grease front end
- spray eastwood rust proof inside frame rails
- paint calipers
- sand and repaint black slots on the wheels
