Corvette Store Featured Item Recycle Your Electronics The Eagle Has Landed James Penick Joins One Acre Club One Acre Club member James Penick has always loved Corvettes but wasn’t able to afford one until 10 years ago. Since then he’s picked up a 2006 and a 2010 as well, and still owns all three of them. He comes to the Museum a lot and attends as many road races as he can so the idea of having a track at the Museum is especially appealing to him as it brings the two experiences together. ”I go to tracks around the country and think that the beautiful piece of property near the Museum would be an excellent spot for one. You almost have to be an enthusiast to know just how much fun you can have on a track like that. Play days, some hot laps, learning to drive well… you don’t have to be a competitor to enjoy yourself. I’d encourage anybody who can afford to do it, to look into what the Museum is trying to do and then help us get this thing going. I believe the Motorsports Park would be a great addition to the Corvette Museum experience and enhance the Museum events tremendously.” Make a Lap of Kentucky with Ky State Police 2012 will usher in the 3rd Annual 1-Lap of Kentucky Tour, part of the Museum in Motion program and unique in that it is a partnership between the National Corvette Museum and the Kentucky State Police.  The two organizations join together to raise money for both the Museum and Trooper Island, a KSP non-profit camp for underprivileged children.  For 2012 the tour moves eastward and will visit Berea, a center of Kentucky Artisan and Craft skills then travel east and south along the Country Music Highway and include a visit to Trooper Island, Chevrolet, Kentucky, Big South Fork Scenic Railway, Cumberland Falls, and several scenic state parks.  As always the tour will be led by a Kentucky State Trooper, now using a marked red Corvette which is sure to attract attention as the caravan travels through an area of real Americana.  The packed agenda kicks off on Tuesday, October 16 and wraps up Saturday, October 20. The event will take place in the "Truck Parking Lot" from 9am-1pm and people may bring in various electronics, including computers, DVD players, hard drives, keyboards, laptops, mice, modems, printers, speakers and telephones for recycling at no charge. Those wishing to recycle CRT monitors, microwaves and TVs under 36" can pay a $5 fee, while any tv over 36" require a $25 fee. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Museum. The Eagle Has Landed   The National Corvette Museum is more than a place to display cars, we're also a resource for folks wanting to learn more about the Corvette hobby. This was proven on Friday when NFL defensive end Jason Babin stopped by, seeking information on how to make his ZR1 even faster! Babin, #93 for the Philadelphia Eagles (and former player for the Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans), had been touring caves in the area with his family and decided to swing by the Museum with some questions on supping up his ride. Our very own David Smith in PDI was able to offer suggestions and advice.
