Founding Members Wayne and Pat Ray (PJ), first got the Corvette bug back in 1983 when a Marina Blue 67 convertible caught Wayne’s eye in a car lot. “It was like it reached out and grabbed me,” Wayne says. Since then, they’ve been great supporters of all things Corvette, joining the Classic Glass Corvette Club, the National Corvette Museum, NCRS, NCCC, NCOA, ISCA, and CCA; restoring old Vettes and buying new Vettes along the way. As Corvette Addicts (by their own admission) they couldn’t resist joining the One Acre Club as well.
“We’ve volunteered for years at the Petit Le Mans.” Wayne says. “We love racing and while we don’t race, we like going fast,” he laughs. “The Motorsports Park is going to be perfect for that and when we get the park running, that will be good for the Museum too. By buying an acre I feel like I ‘own’ a race track now!”
“The car brings all of the wonderful people together,” PJ adds. “And just like in the movie ‘Field of Dreams’ one thing is for sure about the Motorsports Park … if we build it, they will come.”
Today, we just finished closing on a 20 acre parcel that is part of the 184 acres for the initial development of the Motorsports Park. Thanks to everyone who has joined our One Acre Club thus far!
