Bell-Lawellin Families Join the Two Acre Club

The decision to join the NCM Motorsports Park Two Acre Club was a family affair for Bill & Pam Lawellin and Pam’s parents, Bee and the late Herb Bell. Their shared love of performance automobiles, and Corvettes specifically, led them to their involvement with the National Corvette Museum and subsequently the NCM Motorsports Park project.

Upon Herb’s passing in 1991, his beloved 1966 Silver Corvette was passed on to Bill and Pam. Not only is this car a cherished family heirloom, it is also the key that opened the door to our Corvette community.

When asked about his involvement with the Museum and the group’s decision to join the Two Acre Club, Bill says, “When the care of the 66 became my responsibility I subsequently learned of the NCRS and joined. This in turn introduced us to the Museum which was in its early years.  After watching the steady growth and interest in the Museum, we became Lifetime Members.  I then watched the Motorsports Park grow from just an idea to a point where I felt it too had a good chance of success.  So, Pam and I decided to get involved!

When we mentioned it to Bee, she was also eager to be included, so we pooled our resources and became a part of the project’s Two Acre Club.  We hope to one day make the cross country trip and get a firsthand look at what the NCM has accomplished.

Our desire to be part of the Museum and the Motorsports Park is to help preserve a part of our era that ranked about as high as any I know.  What teenager didn't dream of owning a Corvette or being with someone who had one?  So, we will help as long as we're here and our ever changing society still has an interest.”

Two IMPORTANT Corvettes to be Raffled at the BASH

On Friday April 26 at 3:15 during the Bash, we will be drawing the winning ticket for a one-of-a-kind, 2013 Andy Pilgrim 427 Convertible Corvette. This car was put together by the GM design team to honor Corvette Hall of Famer and Corvette Racing Champion Andy Pilgrim. To make this drawing even more special, Andy has donated a racing helmet and one of the few remaining Corvette Racing firesuits he wore when he was with the team.

There is still time to get your tickets for this collectible car honoring this racing legend. You’ll want to hurry! Time is almost up. For more information go to http://www.corvettemuseum.org/raffle/.

The Last C6 Convertible
You won’t want to miss the chance to own the very last C6 Convertible ever made. Wearing the Arctic White Exterior with the 60th Anniversary design and stripe package with Blue top,  this beautiful car marks the end of the C6 era for convertibles. At only $10 a ticket you may want to give your family and friends a chance to win this one too! To find out more go to http://www.corvettemuseum.org/raffle/.

Chevrolet Belle Isle Grand Prix

Detroit-Belle-IsleMay 31-June 2 is going to be a big 3 day weekend for motorsports in Motor City as the World Challenge Series featuring Cadillac, Grand-Am Rolex Series and the IndyCar Dual in Detroit all converge at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. The Corvette Car Corral is the place to go to show your support as Chevrolet races in these three major motorsports events, their home town. For more information on this great event, go to www.DetroitGP.com.

Just for Kix!

Country Music star Kix Brooks came by the National Corvette Museum to pick up the 1958 Corvette that he loaned to us for the Country Music Stars and Cars exhibit. After going on a tour of the Museum he was really impressed with the cars on display and the way the history of Corvette was presented. “Each time the tour bus has passed the Museum,” he said, “I’ve wanted to stop and visit. I’m glad I finally got the chance to do it. Everybody who loves Corvette or cars in general should come by and check it out.”
