This weekend the National Corvette Museum will be represented at not one, but THREE Corvette Shows around the country!

Today through Saturday, our own Gary Cockriel will be joined by NCM Lifetime Members and volunteers Ed and Dee Snell at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2013!  They will have a large Corvette Store booth set up with loads of great merchandise as well as Corvette Raffle tickets. This Saturday, April 6th, we also have two more shows that we will be attending:

The Mid-Missouri Corvette Cup is taking place in Columbia, MO.  This event features various vendors, a bake sale, swap meet, car show, road tour, poker run, bingo, dinner banquet and more.  Bob Hellman and his wife Lavonne will represent the Museum bringing along merchandise and raffle tickets to sell. Further west, NCM Lifetime Members Bill and Bobbie Weir will be setup at the Corvette Expo in Enid, OK.  The event begins at 9:00am at the Chisholm Trail Expo Center and ends at 4:30pm. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children under 12. Visit the Corvettes of Enid website here.

Rico Cuomo of Scottsdale, Arizona made an impulsive stop at the National Corvette Museum while on a business road trip between Nashville and Louisville. Little did he know at the time, this trip would result in winning a brand new 2012 ZR1 Corvette, built his way!

During Rico’s impromptu visit, he toured the Museum and almost bought a raffle ticket, but his business partner talked him out of it. “When I got home I just had a weird feeling I should have bought one so I went online and pulled the trigger on the $500 ZR1 raffle,” said Cuomo.  His $500 winning ticket, # 29, was drawn on Thursday, January 5, 2012. “When Christy called me, I was on a conference call and saw the call was coming from KY. I just knew that I had won which was a feeling I had from the moment I bought the ticket!”

While he waivered back and forth on whether to take the ZR1 or the $80,000 cash option, he eventually decided on the car. Today, he says that he can’t imagine not picking the car! Rico picked Cyber Gray as his ZR1’s paint color, and loaded it up with options such as cup style black satin wheels, black metallic headlamps, blue stitching in the leather interior upholstery, and of course the ZR1 High Performance package.

When it comes to helping out the National Corvette Museum, the Circle City Corvette Club of Dothan, AL members are no strangers! In addition to their continued participation in Museum events, the CCC of Dothan has now committed to a fourth acre for the NCM Motorsports Park project.

“I have to admit, the decision for the club to purchase a fourth acre at the Motorsports Park was a no-brainer,” said Kelly Walker, CCC of Dothan President. “For years our club has been a strong supporter of the NCM and all things Corvette. We are a small club but blessed in having some true Vette Fanatics! It was one thing to raise money for the NCM at our annual Beach Caravan, which we have done for 33 years, but to be able to be involved in an actual Motorsports Park that we will be able to use was truly exciting.  While we realize that building this track is a great undertaking, I believe the success lies in the hands of the Corvette enthusiasts and their generosity to make this happen. I would like to encourage ALL Corvette clubs to seriously consider donating in some way to help make this endeavor a reality.”

The Circle City Corvette Club of Dothan has been in existence since 1979 and currently has approximately 50 very active members. In addition to their involvement with the National Corvette Museum, the club is very involved in fundraising for local charities and the club’s annual dues also go to their community’s needs.

New Western Canada Captain Announced

"Graham Borley, the Western Canada captain will be out of the country for the next year or so on a business assignment and has selected Gary Stephen to act as co-captain in his absence.  I am personally acquainted with Gary and I know he will make sure the Canadian contingent will be well served while Graham is gone.  Graham will be returning in time to lead the caravan in 2014.  Gary will be most appreciative of any help anyone can provide in the coming year and asks for your support.  Many thanks for his response to filling this position."
