Buyers Tours, R8C & Photo Albums Available
Mark your calendars for September 30, 2013 – because that’s the day the GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant will officially open their doors to Corvette customers participating in a Buyers Tour or R8C Delivery, and the Corvette Photo Album program will kick-off that day as well.
Customers are encouraged to go ahead and purchase a buyer’s tour and/or Photo Album if you are interested in watching your Corvette being built (or having the process documented with photographs). Upon purchase, the Museum will work with the plant to begin tracking your car. Should your car be built prior to the September 30 tour start date your money will be refunded.
At this time, these are the only three programs that will be given access to the plant. V.I.P. Tours, NCM Xperience and regular Plant Tour opening dates are to be announced at a later time. If you are not familiar with our Delivery programs, please visit our website to learn more. |
Macy's Greenwood Offering NCM Corvette Merchandise
Macy’s Greenwood has partnered with the Museum to offer licensed Corvette merchandise. Customers will find an assortment of Corvette merchandise including gift items, home accessories and apparel for men, women and kids. Macy’s Greenwood is currently the only Macy’s store where licensed Corvette merchandise is available.
In celebration of the opening of their exclusive NCM shop, Macy's is hosting a special event on Saturday, August 24. A display of Corvettes can be seen at the mall entrance of Macy’s as well as in the parking lot outside of the store, all courtesy of Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green. Customers will be able to meet the owners and ask questions while enjoying popcorn, Cracker Jacks, DJ music and balloon artistry for the kids. With any Corvette Museum merchandise purchase of $25 or more made on August 24, customers will receive a red plaid picnic blanket.

Bowling Green is Geared for Fun
The Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau decided to reevaluate the city as a destination and develop a strong brand identity utilizing research from its own tourism industry and from visitor feedback.
"Once the research was boiled down, we learned we need to focus on what makes us really distinct,” Vicki Fitch, Executive Director of the CVB, said. "The home of the Corvette and Bowling Green's obsession over the American sports car is undeniable."
Bowling Green is where the classic American sports car is celebrated and this identity is communicated in the brand’s newly adopted tagline, “Geared for Fun!” and reflected in a logo that tips its hand to the distinct shape of the National Corvette Museum. "For travelers on the interstate, it's our skyline and most recognizable tourism draw," Fitch said.
If you've not yet made plans to visit us this year, consider a fall getaway like our Museum In Motion: Kentucky 1-Lap in October, or Vets 'n Vettes in November! Learn more online here. |

Registration is now open for our annual Vets 'n Vette event, November 7-9, 2013. Activities include our American Warrior Recognition Program, including Corvette plant tours, Corvette rides for the wounded warriors, a special luncheon, Museum tour and more. Brig. Gen. Corvette Museum Executive Director Honored
Last week Museum Executive Director Wendell Strode was surprised with a Governor's Citation for Community Volunteerism and Service. After holding a board meeting at the museum in May, the Kentucky Commission came away impressed with what they learned while there.
"Through our conversations we learned a lot about what the museum does and felt like it was right in line with our mission," says Commission Board Member Kevin Mays. "We recognize that the use of the facility is a unique way of spreading volunteerism."
Examples the Commission pointed out included the many fundraising events for nonprofits that are held at the Museum throughout the year, our educational driving simulators and courses, and the Motorsports Park set to offer driving schools. The Museum also relies heavily on the many volunteers that lend their time and talents throughout the year.
“We have one club from Indianapolis that comes down for a visit and work day,” Strode said. “The club’s members have all kinds of expertise. So they will send someone down a month in advance and pick out all of the projects that they want to work on. They will put in a full day’s work.”
