Western States Corvette Council Joins NCM Motorsports Park's One Acre Club

Friday, December 4, 2009 Buzz Marston, Public Relations and NCM Ambassador for the Council, presented Executive Director Wendell Strode of the National Corvette Museum with a $3,000 initial check and pledge of $15,000 to purchase an acre at the Motorsports Park.

"WSCC is proud to be a supporter of the NCM Motorsports Park "One Acre Club Program" and we encourage other clubs and organizations to get involved in support of this very worthwhile program," said Rob Weaver, president of WSCC

"Because of the dedication of the 40 clubs that make up the Western States Corvette Council, they voted to be a part of the one-acre program in support of the NCM Motorsports Park. I know that the members are excited about the future of the Motorsports Park and want to be in on the ground floor of it becoming a reality," said Marston.

The Western States Corvette Council is composed of 40 Corvette clubs, totalling over 1,800 members. Learn more about their organization at http://www.wscc.ws.

Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The National Corvette Museum is pleased to announce three Corvette elite who will be inducted into our Corvette Hall of Fame in 2010.

Grady Davis
Former Executive Vice President of Gulf Oil Corp.
According to nominator John Walko, "Grady Davis was the man and the muscle behind Gulf Oil’s sponsorship of Corvette Racing through the early 60s. He showed everyone that Corvette was a world class race car. He established the benchmark for Corvette Racing that we continue to emulate today." In the application, Donna Mae Mims had written, "Grady lived and breathed Corvette. Grady sold the Corvette to the World."

Fred Gallasch
Retired Assistant Brand Manager - Corvette
"All of us have passion for our families. Many of us have passion for our employment. Most have passion for their hobbies. Fred's passion for Corvette has been his hobby and his employment, and the many friends he has made through Corvette have become family," wrote nominator Karl Hannum.

James Ingle
Retired Corvette Development Engineer
"...one of the unsung heros of the Corvette. Since his first assignment in 1975 as the lead development engineer dedicated to the Corvette, Jim has demonstrated a mastery of the Corvette engineering, and a no fooling, let's get it done attitude," wrote nominator William R. NCM IN AFGHANISTAN

NCM Store Employee Becki Flener, being a loyal Marine mom, wanted to send a piece of home to her son, Austan, and had an idea to promote NCM in the process.  Becki purchased three NCM frisbees in the Corvette Store (red, blue, and yellow - Marine colors, of course!) and shipped them to her son for his IED dog Susie and other IED dogs of Afghanistan to play with (dogs that detect improvised explosive devices).

NCM Staff were so inspired by Becki's idea that they decided to "adopt" Austan's Battalion for the holidays and ship them a box of goodies! Austan is currently serving in the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines and is in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan.
