C5/C6 Bash Registration Opens

Pre-registration for the 12th Annual C5/C6 Bash, April 23-25 is now open online! The first event of our busy 2009 season offers three full days of activities including seminars, displays, drag racing, autocross, poker run, auctions and new road tour excursions!

Participants at this year’s Bash event will also be first to enjoy the finished areas of the Museum’s expansion and take part in a guided tour to see the renovation first hand. Celebrity choice car show, auctions, the Margaritaville banquet with live entertainment and the Corvette raffle drawing are part of the festivities planned. In one week, Thursday, December 18, we will draw another Corvette raffle winner! Only 115 tickets have been sold on a chance to “Build Your Own” Z06 and tickets are limited to only 500 to be sold. Odds on this raffle are great and our winner will be drawn regardless of the number tickets left at the time of drawing. We will draw the winning ticket at 2:00 p.m. CT. Guests visiting now through April 2009 can see a unique 1980 POW Corvette created as a tribute on wheels in honor of Vietnam POWs and MIAs. The expressively designed Corvette was the leader of our Veterans Day Parade and was the feature exhibit at the recent Vets ‘N Vettes event in November. Look for a full spread of the event coverage in the next issue of our member magazine “America’s Sports Car”.

This stunning Corvette features a dramatic paint scheme capturing the colors used on the Hanoi Taxi – the aircraft that flew POWs home from Vietnam. The hood depicts an eagle bursting through the barbed wire fence of a prison camp, carrying a set of dog tags into the sky. The car is on loan from Major Richard “Bull” Webster.
  

Indy racecar driver Mario Andretti made a special visit to the Corvette Plant and Museum to “thank” everyone for the hard work and great job in manufacturing the Corvette – which is Mario’s “daily driver”.

Mario purchased a #500 ZR1 in honor of his win at the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500. Our Museum team performed the pre-delivery inspection on Mario’s Corvette which will be shipped home for him to drive and enjoy.  

Dale Earnhardt Sr. Fans - Make Your Bid

Up for bid on the NCM Auction site is an autographed ticket signed by Dale Earnhardt Sr. from his visit to the Corvette Museum on April 10, 1997.

Only a limited number of tickets to see Dale and the #3 car at the Museum were made available to the public. Letter of authenticity included with this ticket. Make your bid online now.

We are in need of vehicles to use to help us transport delivery program guests to and from the plant and to use during our busy show season. If you are looking for a year-end tax deduction, and have a reliable vehicle you would like to donate to the Museum please contact us.
