Plant Tours Donated

When news began spreading that the Corvette Assembly Plant could not accommodate everyone on tours during the Museum's 20th Anniversary event, Pacific Northwest Caravan Captain Robin Forrer took to the chat line, asking if anyone on the East coast would be willing to sell their tickets. "Our caravan is coming the farthest to Bowling Green, and most of our participants only make this trip on these caravans. This may be the only chance in their life to visit. We travel 2,500 miles to Bowling Green and it is a real investment and commitment to be able to make it."

Sheila Emory from the Tri-City area of Tennessee had an idea. Her group of 12 live close enough to the Museum that they could do a plant tour another time. She shared her idea with Brenda Moore, and they decided instead of selling their spots - they would just give them to those furthest away. "Rather than cancel our order, we just changed the names on the spots. People driving further need those spots more than us," Brenda said.

Robin said the spots went to people from Portland, OR; British Columbia and Washington state. "Everyone who did get them were very pleased and it will make their trip to Bowling Green, KY this August a very rewarding and eventful trip after all."

If you would be willing to give up your spot to someone traveling further away, feel free to contat Robin at pacificnwcaravan@hotmail.com or our Caravan Chair Paul Mariano at vettltd@aol.com.

Volunteer Spotlight: Jack & Nancy Richter

Many of you give something to the Museum that cannot be bought... the gift of your time. We will periodically spotlight some of our faithful volunteers - so if you see them at our events helping out, please help share your thanks!

Jack and Nancy Richter, Lifetime Members from Mt. Pleasant, PA are familiar faces at NCM... so much so that they've been house hunting in the area so that they can come volunteer more often!

"Not only are the Richters wonderful volunteers for the Museum, they also serve as Ambassadors, and even give donations of auction items to benefit the Museum," said Stephanie Morrill, Membership Manager. "They have giving hearts. On this particular trip down, they wanted to do something for the staff at the hotel they stay with, so they are purchasing admission tickets to the Museum for them, and providing wraps and cookies from the Cafe for a lunch."

The Richters are humble about their service. "It's the people... the friends we've made throughout the years. Just because we own a Corvette doesn't mean we are on the up and up. It's what we enjoy," Jack said. "You walk in and the people acknowledge you and appreciate anything you do, that's what makes you keep coming," Nancy added. "You do what you enjoy and this is what we enjoy."

Three GM Vehicles Nominated as 2014 NACTOY Finalists

Three General Motors vehicles – the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Silverado full-size pickup and Cadillac CTS sedan – were named finalists today for the prestigious North American Car and Truck of the Year awards, jurors announced at an Automotive Press Association luncheon.

The jury of 48 automotive journalists selected the car finalists from among 28 foreign and domestic contenders. “Today’s announcement is proof we're on the right track,” said Mark Reuss, president, General Motors North America. “It's gratifying to see the experts agree that we're offering customers one of the strongest lineups of cars and trucks available on the market.”

The winners of the Car and Truck categories will be announced on Jan. 13, 2014 before the opening of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
