Ralph & Nancy McKee Buy 250 Tons of Asphalt for the Motorsports Park

Ralph McKee and his wife Nancy have attended many events at the NCM over the past 14 years and are Lifetime Members. They say they have watched the Museum grow, and that the Motorsports Park is a great addition they are looking forward to.

"Years ago I had built a B Altered drag coupe and ran it during the late 1950s. It was built out of junk yard parts. I only lost two races in three years, one was due to a blown clutch and the other due to twisting off the axels in the '49 Mercury rear end. I had the track record at many of the local strips here in Ohio and I qualified for the NHRA nationals two times. I always wanted to put a blower on the car but because I was going to college money was a problem.

After visiting the NCM Labor Day event I saw the new blower that had been developed for the Corvette. Mine was an R8C delivered 2000 Magnetic Red convertible. Long story short, I took the car to Lingenfelter and had them do their thing, a blower, different rear end and a few other things so I could drag race the car at Beech Bend when we came to the NCM. I had memories of old. I love my high powered Vette which dynos close to 500 hp."

Ralph added that maybe they will run their Vette at the Motorsports Park.

"We had talked many times about buying an acre, but when we got around to doing it they were all gone. Maybe a section of the black top will be just as good. Land needs blacktop over the dirt so these cars can show their stuff."

Ralph and Nancy are our first "Major Donors" to the Paving the Way campaign, purchasing 250 tons of asphalt at $100 a ton.

The "Paving the Way" campaign is designed to raise funds to complete the paving of our planned East Course, including a fun and challenging carousel. To meet this goal we will need 6,822 tons of asphalt sponsored. Learn more and make a tax deductible contribution online here.
