Thomas and Lisa Hauk Join One Acre Club

Thomas has loved cars his entire life. “I got my passion for cars from my father.  As I got older, I started leaning towards Corvettes. I loved the lines. They are beautiful, fast and elegant, with out-of-this-world performance.” Two years ago he bought his first, a 2010 Grand Sport, but then traded that in on a Carbon Edition Z06 and recently added a convertible 60th Anniversary to his garage. “The 427 just draws me back to the '67 and that raw performance. It’s an amazing car. I just can't find the words to say just how much I really love it.”

His love for Corvette led to wanting to support the Museum. “We upgraded to a Lifetime Membership to support the Museum’s programs and causes. Then last week I got an email about the Motorsports Park. I looked into it and started reading more about it. I discussed it with my wife and we decided to meet with someone during our Buyers Tour to find out if it was really something we wanted to support. After talking with Wendell, the two of us are fully on board. This is going to be great for educational purposes as well as for track days and events. I just think it’s going to be a great addition to the Museum.”

Lisa agrees. “This is something that we’ll enjoy together.” Learn how you can help the project online here.

Rally Dixie Makes a Pit Stop at NCM

Wednesday, the National Corvette Museum was honored to be one of the stops for Rally North America’s “Rally Dixie 2012.” This 80-car, three-day Rally brought muscle cars, sports cars, exotic cars and other unique cars together for some great fun and to raise awareness for “the Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis.”

For Zac and Cheryl Cannon this Rally is important on many levels. Zac has a sister disease to MS called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease which is characterized by the progressive loss of muscle tissue and touch sensation across various parts of the body. “I can’t do sports anymore,” Zak says, “so my car is my life now and this rally is a great way to have fun and raise money for a good cause.”

“I’m his co-driver, but it’s all about him and getting to see him enjoy stuff. He was a very strong baseball player and golfer before MS took that away, so it’s very cool to get to see him do something that he can really enjoy.”

For more information on this great cause, call 717- 649-0385 or visit www.rallynorthamerica.com.
