2014 Corvette to Have LT1 Engine

When the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette arrives late next year, it will be powered by a technologically advanced, racing-proven 6.2L V-8 delivering an estimated 450 horsepower and helping produce 0-60 times in four seconds flat.

The new Corvette LT1 engine, the first of the Gen 5 family of Small Block engines, combines several advanced technologies, including direct injection, Active Fuel Management and continuously variable valve timing to support an advanced combustion system.

Output, performance, and fuel economy numbers will not be finalized until early next year, but the new LT1 engine is expected to deliver:

  • The most powerful standard Corvette ever, with preliminary output of 450 horsepower (335 kW) and 450 lb.-ft. of torque (610 Nm)
  • The quickest standard Corvette ever, with estimated 0-60 performance of four seconds
  • The most fuel-efficient Corvette ever, exceeding the 2013 EPA-estimated 26 miles per gallon on the highway.

Check out the blog post on this engine by our NCM Insurance Agency online here.

September 11, 2001 Exhibit Closing Sunday

This weekend will be the last chance to see the traveling exhibit based on the permanent exhibition The World Trade Center: Rescue, Recovery, Response housed at the State Museum in Albany, New York. Incorporating World Trade Center artifacts, personal objects from victims and survivors, pieces of aircraft and items documenting the international response, visitors will have an opportunity to see for themselves the reminders of the event that connects us all.

The Museum is open daily, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at I-65 exit 28. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for kids age 6 to 16, free for children 5 and under or $25 for Family admission (everyone in the same household). Learn more online here.
