During the Museum's 19th Anniversary event, NINE acres were committed to for our Motorsports Park "One Acre Club" campaign. There are only a few acres left before we are SOLD OUT! Check out the spotlights on a few more of our members!
Rob Callery and John Callery
Rob Callery (Fla.) and his brother John Callery (Ohio) are both avid Corvette enthusiasts. Rob is an instructor at the Virginia International Raceway and has participated in several Corvette Caravans with his wife, Cathie over the years.
When asked why they decided to join the One Acre Club, Rob states, “Zora Duntov meant for these cars to be driven... hard. I love to be on the track driving or instructing. There is nothing else quite like it. To have our very own playground to do so is a dream come true. I am very happy that my brother John and I could be a part of this project.”
John also provided his insights: “Participation in the One Acre Club is a tribute to our father, who enjoyed the GM life. Also, to all those who can use and enjoy the track in the future: It is not about us, yesterday or today, it is about all the tomorrows that will make a difference in someone’s life.”
Rob bought his first Corvette in 1992, a 1985 Greenwood Z-51. In December of 2003, Rob turned it over to his brother John through the Museum’s Xperience program. At this same time, Rob took delivery of his brand new Z06 Corvette. “Both cars side by side in the National Corvette Museum... what a memorable day,” said Rob.
Louis & Cheryl Santor
Residents of Simi Valley, California, Louis and Cheryl Santor are proud members of the National Corvette Museum and active participants in the Simi Valley Corvette Club. The Santors have visited Bowling Green several times and will be on the 2014 Corvette Caravan trip in their 2007 Monterey Red Z51 package coupe with a cashmere interior and black wheels.
Their Corvette journey began in 2006 when they stopped by their local Chevrolet dealer on a whim to test drive a Corvette. That test drive alone had them hooked, and they promptly ordered their custom car. Since owning their Corvette, Louis and Cheryl have participated in many Corvette related events, meets and trips with their local club and the Museum.
“We were inspired to purchase an Acre by participating in the Museum in Motion tour we took last year with Roc Linkov at the GM Plant and Proving grounds,” said Cheryl. “We had a great time, met wonderful fellow Corvette owners, GM personnel involved with the design of the Corvettes and we felt a connection with the Museum and the efforts for the Motorsports Park. We can’t wait to see it!”
3RedVettes and Velocities
The One Acre Club has individual members, club members, family members - and now a group of friends. After hearing the Motorsports Park presentations by Roc Linkov and Tom Blair, a group of twelve members of the Queen City Corvette Club of Charlotte, NC felt compelled to contribute more than they already had.
“Roc informed us that less than 20 acres remained out of the original 184 and we wanted to do all we could to ensure the sell-out. So we split into two teams of three couples and each purchased an acre.”
The ‘3RedVettes’ and ‘Velocities’ were formed and named by their Corvette colors. ‘3RedVettes’ consists of Glenn & Andrea Johnson (also a member and Ambassador of Tri-City Corvette Club of Texas), Chris Wood & Peggy Marlowe, and John & Helen Jensen. ‘Velocities’ consists of Paul & Barbara Mariano, Boyd & Susan Kurt, and Don & Carolyn Zimmer.
“We are most pleased to be a part of the final push.”
Judith & Martin Dooley
Judy and Marty have been involved with the Museum since the very beginning. They came to the Grand Opening and liked what they saw. They joined the Museum as Founding Members right away. The couple even became Club Ambassadors, representing the St. Louis Corvette Club, when that program began. To them, joining the One Acre Club to show their support of the Motorsports Park was only natural.
"To us, [the Museum] is what keeps the Corvette going. We think helping to get the Motorsports park going keeps this Museum going. It will bring people to the Museum."
The Dooleys aren't the racing type, but moreso spectators. They visit the Museum a couple of times a year. "We have met incredible people because of the Museum."
