ATTENTION PARTICIPANTS FROM IA/IL/MN/ND/SD/WI

In case you didn't get a message from your state captain I received an e-mail from the MN Caravan captain with the information that the stop at MAM on Wednesday, Sept 2nd, has been dropped.  No reason given either.

Instead a lunch stop has been scheduled at the Illinois Centre Mall in Marion, IL where staging will occur for the run into BG led by a silver Corvette with a KY trooper onboard.  I have asked what route the main group will be taking from Marion so if some of us want to stop at MAM anyway we can catch up to the group down the road.

Personally I'd much rather stop at MAM than a shopping mall...!!!

I'll update this thread when I get more information.

The reply I received from the MN Captain was pretty lame IMO.  It would seem someone's nose is out of joint about MAM's open house flyer on the 2nd and 3rd of September.  Also mentioned was a concern about being able to get in and out of the MAM campus in a timely manner.  Seems to me the folks at MAM would have a much better handle on being able to manage a crowd of Vettes than a shopping center...!!!  Oh well...!?!?!?!?!

Patty and I will be stopping at MAM instead and catch up to the main caravan somewhere in Kentucky later in the day.  I just can't see going that far south and then having to zigzag through Kentucky to get to BG.

Weirdos!  I signed up for the caravan a longgg time ago and have sent the people emails and have yet to hear from anyone. I would encourage anyone that wants to stop at Mid America to do so anyway. You can have your own caravan. I dislike stupid people with their own power trip agendas.

I plan to be at Bowling Green but am leaving a couple days before for personal reasons.

The latest info I have from the MN NCC Captain is that the group is scheduled to leave Bloomington, IL at 8:00AM on Wednesday, the 2nd.  Estimated drive time to the Illinois Centre Mall is just under 4 hours.  At 1:30PM the group will pull out and head for BG.  Estimated drive time (with Kentucky State Patrol escort) is about 3 1/2 hours arriving at the museum approximately 5 o'clock.

Those stopping at MAM instead have 2 options for rejoining the caravan:

1 - spend 90 minutes at MAM and then beat feet for Marion to catch the caravan as it pulls out; or
2 - spend as much time as we want at MAM and go cross country to Evansville, IN and catch up with the caravan enroute.

I guess a 3rd option would be to not worry about rejoining the caravan and just go directly to BG from MAM at our own pace.  Personally I prefer option #2.

Between Bloomington and Effingham we should try to run together as a group within the caravan so we can park together at MAM.  We'll have a cell phone and FRS radios along so can keep intouch along the way.

We can talk more about it at dinner Tuesday night in Bloomington.
