Exploded View Looks like the alternator is on the opposite side of the steering pump, should just be a few bolts and wires... you may want to do a little looking online for any other information (youtube or such ;) ) |

what joel said. 12.4 is a bit low for battery voltage, but... its not the tell-tale voltage reading of a dead cell within a battery(which is about 10.6 volts after the surface charge is gone).... I would definitely check to make sure the wires were all fastened back onto the alternator... just in case... otherwise... i'd be taking it back to whomever you purchased it from and get another one.
I have gotten a bad alt before, it was a reman from advance auto, in-fact it was a neighbor of mine that I asked if I could install it. We actually went through 2 alternators before getting one that worked.. since then, I've only gotten new manufactured alternators.
