Cool looking rig man. Thumbs Up Is that a "poly" 318 under the hood?

If it was mine, I'd swap in a modern "392" Hemi with a new 8 speed Torqueflite out of SRT donor car. Nothing like a good ol sleeper. Evil Smile

Yeppers! Clap Push-button Torqueflite 727, behind a "Poly" head 318 engine, a "Semi-Hemi". I'm s'posed to finish connecting the cables to the trans, and making all of it work. A "normal" 727 only has one cable for the trans if any, for the TV(throttle valve) linkage. The push-buttons have 3 cables..one for the shift mechanism, one for the TV, and one for "Park". He's had several cables made for the TV linkage, but they are all waaaay too short...so now I have it, and I'm waiting for the cable to be made that will actually reach the trans. Then I'll fabricate the bracketry to hold it on both ends, and get it all adjusted to work properly. The push-button shifter isn't working right, either, and the Park lever fell off the other day, so I gotta take all that crap out and see how he put it in, and then fix it up.

When they got the truck, it was just a frame, bed, rear fenders, and front end, all in separate boxes/pallets. No cab, engine/trans/rearend. They got a small window cab, and modified it for the large rear window, bought the engine/trans/diff and installed all that, did the bodywork and paint, bed wood, etc. EVERY stinking nut/bolt on this thing is new, most of it chromed, some polished stainless. The underside of the truck is spotless. Once all the mechanical stuff is good, they'll do the interior.
I kinda miss working on these old turds....reminds me of where I started out in the bidness, and why I chose the trade/profession to begin with. Hug

Btw..for those that haven't figured it out, it's a '59 Dodge Sweptline, D100. The rear fenders are for a Dodge station wagon of the same period. The fenders were designed to be bolted on to the wagons, so it wasn't much of a problem to put them on the trucks, to compete with the Chevy Fleetside and Cameos. The bed/tailgates were narrowed a little, but that was the only other mods required for this build. Only made them from '57-'59, and only made a scant few at that of each year. IIRC, there were only about 500 or so of the '59 model....I could be wrong, but I ain't far off.

That is SO cool, Joel! I would take it in a heartbeat! (I know, that's a Chevy term!)
