Looking for both front fenders to fit a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. After spending 6 hours at the body shop today helping tear apart "BIGBRRD" the consensus is to replace (if possible) rather than repair the front fenders.
Color doesn't matter - condition does...!!!
Information on body panel suppliers (new or used) would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

You might check with Goodmark industries or National Parts Depot. I have a friend re-doing a 72 Camero, he is getting all his sheetmetal from Goodmark.
Good luck.
http://www.classicindustries.com/ (is the website)
Found this doing a google...just at the top(tried to copy the website addy, but the link just pops up for the search, and yes, did a right click properties for the url, still, just the search box), you'll have to put in the year, make, etc... you know the drill...
later...

Thanks guys!
I have paper catalogs for NPD and The Paddock and neither one have full replacement fenders for the '78 but do have partial panels that can be patched in. I also have a Classic Industries catalog on CD but haven't searched through it yet. And a Goodmark Industries catalog was sent for a week ago but it hasn't arrived yet.
I'll check out Scoggin-Dickey to see what they have. I did find a few on eBay as well but the bride is a little leary of buying anything used sight unseen.
Well, in a word - FRUSTRATING...!!! Goodmark Industries doesn't carry full fenders for the T/A. Classic Industries has them listed in their catalog but don't have them in stock (yet) as the tooling for stamping the reproduction parts isn't completed yet and there is a huge backorder stack waiting. According to the CI guy the only new fenders you're going to find are NOS stuffed away somewhere in a basement or garage and I'm afraid I don't have enough gold coins stashed away to afford them.
Soooo - spent a lot more time than I should have chasing used fender leads on the internet today. Several said "call back on Monday" (which I can't because I'll be out of the country then) so I'll have to give those contacts to the body shop guy and let him finish chasing things down.

Joel, I looked at the web site and saw the "bowtie" all over the place so passed. Also was running out of time to check out either the parts link or the "fix it" link. If all else fails I'll have to check them out a little better.
Side panels (fenders and doors) for the 2nd gen F-bodys are not interchangable. The Camaro is more "creased" and the Firebird is more rounded.
Have several leads on used fenders but the call backs are to be made on Monday so the body guy will have to make them as I'll be in Wales then.
Thanks again!
Found a pair at a used parts place out in Maryland. The body guy would have like to have found a new pair, or at least a pair in better shape, but we'll have to work with what we can get.
It is amazing that you can get any panel new for a Camaro but nothing new exists for Firebirds.
Onward...!!!
