The idea of organizing a springtime "Northeast" regional event was brought up over in C3VR Chit-Chat.  We've got a ton of members in the NY/NJ/PA area!  Gettysburg National Military Park is a nice driving tour.  Corvette America (Reedsville PA) would be an interesting trip.  Shady Maple Smorgasbord/Dutch Country (East Earl PA) is a nice destination.  Any other ideas for different places, dates, activities, etc.?

we do have the BIG BBQ that Paul has at his house each spring. we could make that bigger and maybe have it at a park near his house. i dont want to ellect his house for tons of people to show up but still keep it near him since he got all of us together two times in a row so far.
then like the other years, he takes us to a nearby cruise night and everybody hangs out with our vettes and look at the other cars as well.

PLus it is such a great feeling to see a line of vettes coming in.

I would be willing to help out with a Northern New England event sometime. I know it's a long way for most people, but the White Mountains in New Hampshire have lots to see and do. Incredible senery and cruising roads. Lake Winnipesaukee isn't too far from there also.
Being just over an hour away, I could check out places to stay and we already know where to eat.Approve Tax free shopping, too.
Just an though for sometime in the future, seeing how NE was mentioned.

I am up for the run sometime up there Jeff.  If we could get three or four vettes to meet up then it is still fun but the more the merrier as they say.

I love it up there and the winding roads thru the mountains is definitly a fun cruise and we could stay over at some hotel/motel up that way. New england area definitly sounds like a good idea.

We could do this at one point and still have Paul's Big BBQ event at the regular time. bascially just another event for all of us Northeast members to do during the year.
This is open to everyone in the C3VR world if you are willing to drive the distance to do it. I didnt mean to make it sound like it was just the northeast group doing this. anyone can join in and we'd be happy to see you there and take part in the event whatever it may be no matter the time of year or anything.

Do we have a date for Paul's BBQ?
What month?
Saturday or Sunday?

A drive in New Hamshire would be fun too.

That barbeque sounds cool!
I'm open to ideas of locations in the northeast for another road trip/gathering.
My input is this;
The Finger Lakes Region in upstate N.Y. (About 1 hour South West of Syracuse - About 1 hour North of Binghampton) Beautiful scenery and winding mountain roads with views of the lakes.
Let's keep this going and see where we wind up.

Finger Lakes are nice driving and of course there are many high quality wineries around the lakes. Also, several Bed & Breakfast places to stay.
At Hammondsport there is the Glenn Curtiss Museum of early airplanes and motorcycles.
There used to be a paddle boat cruise on the lakes. Not sure if they will be operating in 2008.
Lots of fine restaurants and ice cream places too.

If there is any interest in a trip to NH, I'm interested. I would suggest the twisty, curvy Kancamagus Highway, NH Route 112 starting in Conway, NH to Lincoln, NH. While in Lincoln, NH we have to stop at Clark's Trading Post. www.clarkstradingpost.com. Or start in Lincoln, NH and travel the Highway towards Fryeburg, Maine.

I'm all for New Hampshire. As JPD said, the Kanc is a great road. Franconia Notch is just north of Clarks with the Cannon Mt tram. The old man fell so he ain't there any more. The Mt Washington Auto Road is about 8 miles and a 4000+ ft climb. (Has recorded snow for every day on the calendar) Need a good tranny and brakes for that. Rt 113 weaves in and out of New Hampshire and Maine in a little less traveled part of the Whites. Tax free shopping for the ladies in North Conway. No shortage of stuff to do and see here.
I'll be glad to check out lodging or anything else if needed.

Bugs shouldn't be bad at all. Black fly season is done. If you do any hiking under tree cover and it's damp, muggy weather you might want some bug dope. Other than that it's fine out in the open. Besides Vettes are a little faster than the skeeters up here. Some parts of Maine with lots of water they pick ya up and carry ya off for the feast. We camp along the Kancamagus Hwy 2 - 3 time a year.

How does the weekend of June 21-22 look for everyone?
Are there any major Corvette events that we would either conflict with or that we could consider attending?

P.S.   DWRIGHT,
My folks live in the Finger Lakes region. I'll probably get up there in

the time draws near. Maybe we could scout around the area for a

I'm all for New Hampshire and can be in No. Conway in about an hour, and June 21-22 is fine. I don't want to be selfish in respect to meeting in NY or NH or wherever. I know NH will be a pretty long ride for people just to get there, but I'll be glad to do whatever I can to plan and help out if thats where people would like to go. I would suggest No. Conway or Lincoln as a place to stay. No. Conway has tons of shopping and places to eat. Lincoln also has plenty of places to stay and eat and is directly off I-93.

Hey.

Anyone interested in making a trip into NYC and see the tree and maybe take in a show or we could all go to a nice restaurant and spend some time there etc...?  This could be after xmas or after new years and we all go in. we could even make a meeting spot in the city and a time so we could go there our own way.  Just an idea.

OK gang,
Time to revive this.

So far we have a BBQ at Paul's or a park in NY for Sunday, May 25, 2008.

And a get together in New England (NH) the weekend of June 21-22.

And a possible fall ride in NY around the Finger Lakes.

We need champions to coordinate these by starting new, specific threads.

I hope Paul can take the BBQ in NJ.

Need someone to take the New England ride.

I'll take the fall Finger Lakes weekend.

Let's do it!!!!!

I would love to go to NH, but unless I have a fuel tanker riding behind me it's a no go for me.
4 years ago when I went to Carlisle, it cost me over $150 in fuel Shocked OK, call me cheap !
I'm willing to hold my second annual pool/picnic party in either July or August Cool. We can then go to Whiskey Café, where a local cruise night takes place, there are usually 400 or more cars, music, food, vendors etc.
I can fit about 15 to 20 people at my house. There's also plenty of room in the pool.

Paul always has his on a Sat. (so we can include the cruise night) near Armed Forces Day (5/20), so his will most likely be 5/17 or 5/24.
Paul will let us know.
I'll head up the New England, New Hampshire weekend in June. Never did anything like this before, but it sounds like fun. I know the White Mountain region really well and it ain't far so I can scout out lodging, sight seeing, shopping crap and anything else someone might want to do.
Jeff- The neat thing about this get together will be the amount of daylight.
We'll have plenty of time to cruise.Wink

Don't worry Jeremy, we won't let you forget it. I enjoyed the last one, but maybe we could shoot for a little earier so it's not so cold.

That wasn't cold, that was crisp. A beautiful, blue-sky morning with lots of fall foliage color. Perfect day for an end of the summer picnic and ride.

And we had a good turnout.Clap

I'll start the new thread for the New England trip in June soon, like by tomorrow.

Jeff (Heml"74) weather should be good, not too hot yet. Just hope it don't rain.
