The Fall BBQ was a hit just like last year and since I am a lifetime member i will try to set that BBQ for each year right around the same time so make a mark on your calendars for next year.  If you want an idea of dates so you can keep that time of the year available. this year the BBQ was on the 28th. Last year it was on the 21st.  Only reason we didnt do the 21st this year was due to a corvette show called " Class Glass" was on that weekend and not too many people do two things on one weekend. it was better to split it apart.

 

ANYHOW, onto the new subject.

 

i was curious if anyone was intereted in trying to do an Winter Meet perhaps at a ski lodge or maybe all of us meet up somewhere in NJ/NYC and go see the lights at Rockefeller Plaza with the Big tree lighting ceremony. or the xmas day parade. just throwing out ideas.

I think just because our vettes are asleep doesnt mean we cant all meet up somehow or some way.

 

yes, i know Christian and Jewish holidays are coming up and Thanksgiving. i was thinking maybe in early December for the tree and NYC events.

 

For the ski lodge or all of us meeting up at a restaurant for a long dinner and maybe taking in a broadway show or something. those ideas could be done in january or february depending on the weather and after the holidays are past.

 

So, for now. Could everyone throw out some ideas for things to do, time to do it and so on....?

 

i think it will help those of us that are free have some fun. I mean you don't need to bring your vette. take a pic with you or just mention your screen name on the site and everyone starts talking that way. It gets everyone together.

 

the reason I am doing this is between Paul, Myself and Warbird (who did a party at his home in August), I just wanted to try to keep the group together and meeting up, some new faces, some old but everyone keeps meeting up and doing things when they can and when they can afford it. i believe if we make things solid like this the rest of the country that has C3VR members will do the same and make us more popular and maybe will make the site get a whole lot of more members if people knew how much we met up and knew everybody. So it isnt just a website with forums.

 

Spring is Paul's BBQ and cruise night.  early mid summer is the C3VR get together somewhere in the USA.  fall is my BBQ at round valley state park.  why should we ignore winter? why not get those that want to get together the location and time to do it?  Also those that like Skiing or snowboarding or cross country skiing, sledding. they get to have fun as well.

 

So just throw ideas, place, locations, times and such out and groups could get together in december and other groups could meet up in jan or feb for winter activites.

 

So All you new England members try to get us some good ideas, locations, dates, times, etc.. so you arent all left out of everything. I am trying to include the new england area this time since you are all part of the "North East" as well.

I used to down hill ski, not it is Xcountry ski and snow shoe. There are places in the Poconos that would be fun.

December for me is usually too busy with parties and getting ready for the holidays. Between Christmas and New Years we will be with family somewhere.

Maybe January would be best.

I already have a Corvette Euchre Tournament/party scheduled for Jan. 12.

NYC car show? i am not sure when that is. i think it is in march or april though i will find out. It is usually held at the Javitts Convention Center in NYC along the west side highway.

 

There is another car show in January in atlantic city. it is held in the atlantic city convention center. it isnt a show you would bring your cars to. It is a car show. if you look up the convention center you can find a way to enter your car in which case it would be dry and indoors the whole time. The show is also a huge swap meet for auto parts etc... and a massive auto auction. So for those fo you looking this is a place to be. Open to the public and everything. parking for the typical spectator includes a big parking garage and tons of streets to park on with alot of police to protect the area. it is a big event for atlantic city.  Otehr things to do would be to stay at one of the hotels/casinos and make a weekend trip out of it. cold or not the casinos would take care of you and atlantic city has its own airport for all flights to go into as well.  Just an idea.  i go to this show each year with my dad.

 

 

I kinda figured Jan or feb would be best. i don't mind it then, i am just trying to get a winter social/gathering together.  We don't need to alienate or ignore our friends on the site just because we cant drive our vettes to see them.

 

Poconos sounds good. My Gf knows that area. personally i have never been.  We could def look into it.

 

I typically would go to Killington Ski resort in vermont only because my mom lives in woodstock, vermont and it is about 20-30 min away and it is a cool little ski town. all motels are bed and breakfast ideas.

Other more local or closer ski resort is Shawnee Ski resort in NY.

A ton of things to see and do. If interested, I'll coordinate a Saturday or Sunday - traffic in is usually ok - traffic out is usually a bit heavy...
