Terry & Elba,
Thanks for the update.
I was getting the chills looking at your pictures.
Your baby will enjoy the weather in the lower 48.
I hope you have a smooth sail, on the water and the land.
Will you be able to get over the mountain passes or will you have to come down and around?
See you soon and have a safe trip.

Terry just had his first "Oh SH#T" moment on this trip!
He's in Seattle, and had a fuel leak. Just filled the tank, and then fuel started running out on the ground...oh oh...that can't be good!
Turns out his fuel pump doesn't have a return line fitting, and the return line on the frame was left open. When he filled the tank, fuel started siphoning out of the return line!!
He's gonna plug the line on the frame, and hit the road!
Hope that's the worst thing that happens for any of us on the road to The Gathering.

Now how about that? I thought there was a breather cap on the frame end. Did it dall off or did the price of gas scare the end off? Either way its great to know he and Elba are safe on the ground and starting the migration.

Hope the rest of the trip is uneventful.....

He stopped and filled up with gas, made it about 50 miles or so, and it started runnin like crap. It was runnin fine before that, so it's highly possible he got some REALLY crappy fuel, maybe too much H2O in the fuel up there, or whatever else they put in it to add "volume"...
He had it flatbedded into Laramie, WY, and last I heard, was begging the guys to work some overtime to get it fixed, but still didn't know exactly WHAT the problem was. Could be the Mallory ignition system, could be fuel related, could just be a loose connection somewhere. We just don't know yet what they've found.
Ya'll keep yer fingers AND toes crossed for our Alaskan brother and sister.
His dang cell-phone battery is dead...

We are in Denver..Thank God..When I installed the ZZ4 in the car it was built and set up for Sea Level, the Holley 750 was rejetted for max performance, well filling the tank with fuel in Rowlins and running at speeds of 87MPH and heading for Denver you climb to 7000 feet above sea level.. I was over fueling the engine causing fouling of the plugs and I keep running thinking it had to due with the last thing I did, fuel up, and I could clean it out!!...Well that did not happen, she quit on me..DEAD

After talking to my maintenance crew, I called AAA for pickup..And the Chevy Dealer nearest..The Dealer detuned the Holley, leaned it out..WOW I'm using less fuel and have the same performance for speeds from 70 to 90 and above.. Elba& I will leave in the morning for Oklahoma City, and all is OK, Again, thank you crew and friends for keeping us lifted..Elba won't drive because of the allowed speeds, but I'm having a BLAST and you know what? It's just that much more fun when you overcome the breaks that are delt you..

See you all soon..Terry & Elba

WOW! But...but...you said it wasn't blowing any black smoke!
I'm really glad that's all it was, but I feel silly not thinking about it.
I hope you were able to keep the jets they removed, so you can maybe re-install them later.
It's funny that didn't happen when you made the trip to PF in '06...have you changed the engine since then?
Oh well...sorry I wasn't any help on this one...

I was thinkin you should just stop puttin gas in it...seems like every time ya do, somethin happens!
I hope that's the last trouble ya'll have on this trip. We'll see ya in a couple o days!!

Terry;

Let us know when you land here in OK.  We'll be packing and cleaning and trying to solve the age old problem...just how many shoes do you need, dear?

I have to remind myself that 90% of all matter is space, so if you can compress the space out of it...

You guys travel safely and keep your windows rolled up tight and the recirculate setting on when you pass the feed lot/slaughter house outside La JuntaCry

That is already a feature here, but....you have to have been one of the original members (in 2001) to have access...secret code and rituals apply to get into that particular forum. Sorry.

However, send me a P/M, and I'll give you my address. For $372.56, I'll "share" the ritual procedure with you, so you can practice...

Terry;

Glad you made it to the Great State of Oklahoma!  Perry is somewhat...rustic...

Sleep in a little.  Exit 166 is only about 14 miles after the turn onto I-40 East.  By the way, as you come down I-35S, merge to the right lane between N.E. 23rd Street and N.E. 10th.  The I-40E split is from the right hand lane.  Follow the sign for I-40E.

Perry is around Exit 186 and you are coming to the junction around mile marker 128, or around 58 miles.

Watch for the local speed traps around mile marker 138 and 133.  133 is where it drops to 60mph and they LOVE to make $$$ for the city.

Mile Marker 138 is where the Turner Turnpike merges into I-35S and there are LOTS of trucks coming off and trying to cross 3 lanes in 200 or so feet to get to the truckstops there.  They also sit in the median in both places.

See ya in the morning!

Terry & Elba,
Glad to hear everything is running fine.
Are you planning to meet up with your NW cousins again before heading home?
If you do, be sure to tell them they were dearly missed.
Probably won't see any of them till 2010.Unhappy

I hope Mike and I can make it next year!  Depends on the time of the year, though.  I can almost guarantee we won't be driving.  I did the drive from Caribou, Maine to Portland, OR once...don't care to do it again!!!
