Welcome again.  Stay safe and come home to your waiting C3.  When I worked at COMNAVAIRFOR we used to have people get Temporary assignments to Afghanistan.  We used to send them care package of videos and books.  How are you set in those areas.

What is your APO address?  If you do not want to put it on the forum send me a PM.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I now have my dream car, and I'd predict that I'd be buried in it, except my grandson will probably claim it first.

In the interests of full disclosure, I retired from the USAFR in 2006 after 23 years. I am currently serving in Afghanistan as a government employee of the DoD. This is my second 6-month tour, and it will probably be my last. Because of my military background, I serve as an XO to an elite group of highly specialized individuals. I'll have to leave it at that.

Thanks for your offers of care packages, but since my permanent duty station is in Germany, my wife sends me lots of care packages without paying postage because she sends from APO to APO through the MPS. Sorry if I lost any of you with the acronyms.

I will probably end up shipping the Vette to Germany to enjoy it there. So, if any of you have had a good experience with a car shipper with overseas experience, I'd be happy to entertain using them.

Thanks again for the warm welcome! See you around...if you are ever in Germany, drop me a note and we'll show you around the Wiesbaden/Mainz/Frankfurt areas.

Hi Gil - Thanks for the offer, but someone put together a media server in our compound, and it contains about 4 TB of movies, music, and TV shows. Unfortunately, I don't have a whole lot of time to watch what's on it, like none! No complaints, but it is work/eat/sleep for me, oh, and I travel around the countryin-between working/eating/sleeping. Not many Vettes around these parts. - Take care, AJ
