I have heard a couple of dozen complaints about various issues with the site since the forumware was upgraded.

If you are having issues, please answer the following:

1) What issue(s) are you having?
2) What browser are you using? (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc)
3) What is your browser version? (6,7,8,etc.)
4) What operating system are you using? (Windows ME, XP, Vista, MAC, etc)
5) If you are having issues with pages taking a long time to load, is it taking a long time for the content to load (long time before you can read a post) or is it taking a long time for the page to complete loading?  What does the status bar at the bottom of your browser say while it is taking a long time to load?
6) If you have having problems with Access Denied... when you get that message, does it say "Logged in as [your user name]" at the top left of the page AND also say "Logout [user name]" at the top right of the forum page (near the Member List link).?
7) What is your connection speed?  (dial-up, cable, dsl, fios, etc)

I've used IE, Firefox and Chrome and have not experienced any of the problems people have talked about so it is hard for me to figure out what is going on.

I'm trying to gauge just how serious the problem is.

Thanks!

adam maybe the problems were from not being used to the new software as people get used to one way. maybe they complained and then found the answer so there are no continuing problems. i have had a few because of a few things being changed but after i looked i found them so no problems. some other complaints may have been the same nature. i think it's running greatBig smile

Seems a tad slower, but I changed internet service, and that may be it.
A few things took me a few extra seconds to figure out,  but easily found.

I really like the members cars on the top.

I did NOT "vote", or check a box on the poll, but I do think the site response is slower. It seems to take longer for me to get logged on than "normal", and it does take longer to load pages than before, for me. You know I've had speed issues before, but that had really pretty much gone away with some "tune-up" work on my 'puter.
I did notice you have "trouble with posting and site freezes my browser or PC" listed....I am definitely having that issue with Firefox/C3-4-6VR, but I cannot 100% say this has coincided with the new forumware install. I do know that when typing in a post, it will "freeze" the cursor, and I will have to wait a few seconds to be able to continue with my message.
Don't know if ANY of these particular issues are directly related to the new forumware, but that's what I'm dealing with.
hth

ok...WHY did this post start halfway down the post box??? I did turn off my sig for this post, but....

Also...I will say that after being logged in on the site(s) for maybe 10 minutes or so, everything does start to go a little faster, and the response time is much better...if that makes any sense, or difference...Adams' Apple2009-04-14 19:33:02

Every once in  awhile I get a message informing me that I do not have access to do a particular action.  Logging out of the site and logging back in usually clears it up for a little bit.  I have cleared the temporary internet file cache of cookies and files from C3VR and that usually takes care of the issue for several days.

The site's response speed generally seems to be faster for me.

I had the problem listed by Norsky, but I had it just once, the very first day and I have not had a problem since.

None of the survey questions match my problem exactly.  Other than having to familiarize myself with the new format, the only problem Im having is speed.  Page load is much slower, so much so that I have started opening posts in a new window so I dont have to wait for the original page to reload when I hit the back button.

Folks that have responded so far with problems, please answer the following questions:

Hope this helps.

EDIT:  Just checked the site using Firefox 3.0.8.  Faster text load times, but page not completely displayed for a few seconds.  Also, on FF I noticed that the left-side ads were first displayed in the center of the screen and then immediately displayed in correct area.

Biff (and everyone),
If you see the bulk of the page load (in other words, you can see the entire thread or other page content) but your browser appears to continue to load the page...look at the browser's status bar at the bottom left.  Odds are it will say it is loading "google analytics" or something to that effect.  If that is the case, then the page IS loaded.  Please don't confuse this with slow load times. If the content is visible, it is not a slow load issue.  There is a known problem with Google Anayltics that occasionally causes the page load completion to take a while, but it should not effect the visibility or usability of the rest of the page.

Adam, most of the time the text will load but the status line reads "(178 items remaining) Wating for https://www.c3vr.com/forum/topicXXXX.htm..."  The reamining items count will spin down eventually, but it does take quite awhile to finish up.  I am, however, able to scroll down the page to read the text during this time.
Clicking on the Home link at the top of the page sometimes yields a slow page load.  The status bar reads" waiting for http://ads.modules.com/somethingIcan'tread."  Then a few seconds the page will fully load.
All of this occured after the latest update.  I'm not complaining, I like the look and features of the newest update.  Hope you can figure it out.

I use Firefox 3.08.  I have DSL, so speed is normally acceptable, but I have noticed that the pages load much slower.  The left hand ads show up in the middle of the page immediately, then move over and the rest of the page loads.  I like the members' cars at the top, but I can watch them slowly load, so I know that is at least part of the slowdown.

A minor thing:  when I log on and click new posts, the drop down menu suggest new posts since the time I turned on the computer and opened FF, even though I did not log on at that time.

None of this is a big deal, though.  I wouldn't have mentioned any of it if you hadn't asked.

Larry

1) What issue(s) are you having? slow page load both at home and work
2) What browser are you using? (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc) IE
3) What is your browser version? (6,7,8,etc.) at home 6.0, yeah, I know its old but its served well. Using 8.0 at work, still slow.  Both conections are broadband.
4) What operating system are you using? (Windows ME, XP, Vista, MAC, etc) XP at home XP pro at work
5) If you are having issues with pages taking a long time to load, is it taking a long time for the content to load (long time before you can read a post) or is it taking a long time for the page to complete loading?  What does the status bar at the bottom of your browser say while it is taking a long time to load? The page header loads quick, but I cannot see post or scroll down for several seconds while the remainer of page is loaded... get a flickering hourglass.  The bottom left of the page only shows items remaining to load have never seen the Google Anayltics message.

Dang...he's on to us!

I'm using the latest Firefox(3.0X), Winders XPHome, (dial-up)

What I'm seeing in the lower left is mostly "Transferring data from www.c3vr.com", "Transferring Data from (whatever supporting vendor is featured in the top banner at that time)", and then it seems to get hung up on "Transferring data from www.amazon.com". The google analytical only shows up for a split second or two.

The side-bar ads have loaded in the center of the page for me for a long time...this has nothing to do with the new forumware, imo. It has more to do with Firefox, I think.
My page comes up with nothing but the VERY top Blue area(no car yet), and then the rest of the page will be blank, then the center load of the ads(for the left side bar), and they scroll slowly from the top down. That moves to the left side, then the top line of the forum page loads, but without the graphics...just text.
Eventually, the entire page will load like that, all the while, the lower left corner says "transferring data from XXX(take your pick)" The "fuel gauge/bar graph" at the bottom of the browser will show almost 100% for several minutes, until the page is completely loaded, and the lower left corner says "Done". During this time the page is basically blank, except for the top blue area, and the left side bar. There is no view of the topics/forums until the page is completely loaded.

Don't know if ANY of this helps...as usual, it's prolly just ME, and my dang tube-operated 'puter...

For se Firefox users, especially 3.0.8, take a gander at This from the Mozziller forum. There is hope!! It suggests installing a new add-on to Firefox, I did it, and so far....it's kickin booty this mornin! I'll have to test it on the puter at home, but here at the shop, there is no issues with page load speed anymore....
The suggested add-on is called No Script, and be SURE to read thru the info on it. as it will require you to "Allow" or "Disallow" certain stuff quite often, until you determine how to set it for good, then it's fine.

This is working FOR ME....just an idea for others to ponder, and make your own decision.

Ok... another question for only those of you experiencing long page load times.

At the bottom of every FORUM page, below the "Web Wiz Forums" logo, there is a line that says "This page was generated in X.XXX seconds."

Please tell me what that value is on the pages that you say are taking really long.

Thanks!

Yessir it do!

It seems OK most of the time however, when it happens, once or twice per day, it won't even let me in to the forum main page.  It doesn't seem to be any of the other forums except the General C3VR Chit-Chat.  I'll go play some more and see if I can screw it up again!

BTW, this page was generated in 0.406 seconds.

This page was generated in 4.922 seconds.
This would be blindingly fast...if it were true. It's better now since I did what I did, actually MUCH better, but the 4+ seconds is a bit optimistic, as far as actually SEEING the page.
I think most of my issues now may be with my settings, and processor, but my other forum sites(Classic Goldwing forum, transmission forums, ect.) are quicker to load.

Ya know what...it don't really even matter to me...if it takes 3 minutes to load a page here, it's worth the wait...

Mine says it loaded in .438 seconds.  I'm not having any probs.  I'm using Firefox 3.1 Beta 3 and Windows XP.  My firewall is Online Armour free and I use Avira free antivirus.

Here is something that might help some that have just upgraded to(and use) IE 8....

Internet Explorer has an update to 8.0, when this happens you may get a "time out" error or a "navigation error".
To repair this:

# Open Internet Explorer
# Click on Tools
# Select "Internet Options"
# Click on "Security"
# Click on "Custom Level"
# Under the Title "Miscellaneous" find "Display Mixed Content"
# Click on "Enable"
# Then "Apply" and "OK"

I'm just "crusing" with my Windows XP SP3 Exploror 7.0.  Every once in a while I see that I get "denied" to something but then again, my wife does that to me also!!!

I have just discovered a problem!!  I tried to start a new question in a forum and received a message saying that I could not post a topic, I did not have permissions !!  Whats up with that? Adam??  I have just found a 1978 Ann Edition Vette with 52K, L48 for sale.  Looks nifty, I wanna talk to somebody that has one.  They can call me at (is it safe to post phone numbers here??).
Maybe I shopuld be talking to Jim (norsky) he lives close to me!!
