Along with the visual changes I made recently, I also upgraded the Search boxes found on the home page and on the Fourm List & Topics pages. They have the Google logo inside. They will search all of C3VR, not just the forums.

If you want to do specific forum searches, you can still use the "Search" button at the top of the forum pages.

Please try out the improved google search boxes and let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Adam, is there some way to get back into the OLD forum threads, I guess "archives"? When I do a search in the usual way, it will only go back maybe one year...sometimes, I KNOW the thread is there, but I just can't get back that far.
Am I missing something, or is the regular search function date impaired?

I guess I will now try the Google search function, so I can see if that will answer my question....

The Google search box will search EVERYTHING.  You just won't be able to specify a date range.

Actually, I just looked at the Forum Search feature... there is a Date box and you can select "Any Date"
You should probably narrow it down to a specify forum or two first though to make it more efficient.

Even the "Any Date" function will only go back about 2 years...
I did the Google search for something, and you're right...it DOES bring up EVERYTHING!!!
Everything except what I was actually looking for. I'll keep playing with it, tho....

I didn't have much luck with this.
I checked on two threads, one older than one year and one from last fall.
No luck.
Actually, I couldn't find the "Any Date" function.
I'm not very computer savvy, so its prolly just me.

The "Any Date" function will still only give about 25 pages of thread topics...which amounts to aboot 2 years max, in my experience. Whut if I want to go back farther than 2 years? THIS is my dilemma...I know most of the older threads/posts have been "archived"...how do I/we access the "archived" stuff?
It really ain't that big of a deal, but sometimes, it's nice to go back to an older thread and retrieve info that has already been posted....keeps me typin fangers frum gettin tarred...

Sounds like you need to be more specific in your search criteria.  You should add more key words, a username, narrow down to only a few forums categories, etc.

Tux,
Thanks for showing the way with the Google search option.
I couldn't figure out how to Google on the web until I read your "after I hit enter now. (no big deal)"
Still no luck findin' older threads yet.
