I have been kinda holding back from commenting on this issue until now. I visit these foums at least once a day just to see whats going on and get a chance to catch up wth the FRIENDS I have met on this site. The whole reason I became a LIFETIME member on this site was to be a part of this group I have been involved with since 2008. But my FAVORITE part of this has been getting to meet and interact with a GREAT group of people (NE mainly, but the gathering was mind-blowing ). I have never seen a new person who asked a question NOT have it answered fully and thoroughly. Are there sometimes inside jokes and off topic reponses, YES, but if these people would get only casually involved, they  would quickly know whats going on. I have never seen a new member disrespected on made fun of in any way (we get to know you first). As Dan (The Rook) has so eloquently stated, this is a web site that has become a club. It is my favorite place to come AND some of my favorite people to hang out with. I hope we never loose the personal touch that has become part of this site. Otay...I've calmed down...

I think the whole idea that Adam is trying to get across is that some new members, or visitors, may not get how some of us do things. We joke around with each other(sometimes a little too much), and it may seem a bit odd to new folks. I've been on other forums...just too much bickering, and meanness for me. Perhaps that's what everyone is accustomed to, but prolly tired of. A new member takes a gander at some of the threads/posts here, and thinks it's the same-ol same-ol, with name callin and such. They don't KNOW that we are all really friends, and just pokin fun at each other....they just see what might be interpreted as flaming....and they move on.
A suggestion would be to at least use the available Smilies to lessen the perceived harshness of a post. IE; Joel, you big dummy!
Mama is one of those people that you cannot joke around with too much, because she doesn't always get the joke, or she make take offense at it. There are plenty of others like her, that just may not get it. Doesn't make them bad people, or people that don't have a right to be here....they're just different..or maybe it's US that are different.
Does that make sense?
We don't want to keep anyone from enjoying their visits here, be they Lifers, or Newbies. The real point is to please consider that a newbie might not get that inside joke...especially if it has nothing to do with the original topic. All that is being asked is to Please have some consideration for our New(er) Members when posting. Not ALL of them are nutz like some of us, but we would like for them to hang around, and get to know us. Remember, we were ALL newbies here once, and were made to feel Welcome....Just asking for everyone to continue that.

As a direct answer to Elderdjames,  It is a little known secret that the East Cost guys (everyone east of the Mississippi) on this forum are afraid that if given a chance the Left Coast guys will take over and they are also envious of our weather. 

So to prevent that  there is a quota on joining from the Left Coast.  I think it is 1 for every 10 east coast guys.  Don't let Adam know I told you.  It is a deep dark secret (ebo told me all about it).  We Left Coast guys just have to work harder to get more C3 guys to join.  I'm printing some flyers up and soon we will over come and surprise them at a function.

Come on Lemon Grove, CA .......Really.....that just sounds like a dream vacation spot!

Interesting thought about why with our limited driving seasons on East coast why more members are on this side of the map. ( I know Adam rebates the East Coast people 50% of the cost)

Is there figures on what states actually have the most vettes registered....?
