I have been kinda holding back from commenting on this issue until now. I visit these foums at least once a day just to see whats going on and get a chance to catch up wth the FRIENDS I have met on this site. The whole reason I became a LIFETIME member on this site was to be a part of this group I have been involved with since 2008. But my FAVORITE part of this has been getting to meet and interact with a GREAT group of people (NE mainly, but the gathering was mind-blowing Cool). I have never seen a new person who asked a question NOT have it answered fully and thoroughly. Are there sometimes inside jokes and off topic reponses, YES, but if these people would get only casually involved, they  would quickly know whats going on. I have never seen a new member disrespected on made fun of in any way (we get to know you first). As Dan (The Rook) has so eloquently stated, this is a web site that has become a club. It is my favorite place to come AND some of my favorite people to hang out with. I hope we never loose the personal touch that has become part of this site. If anyone would give this site a chance they would love it, too! Rant over.

Otay...I've calmed down...Embarrassed

I think the whole idea that Adam is trying to get across is that some new members, or visitors, may not get how some of us do things. We joke around with each other(sometimes a little too much), and it may seem a bit odd to new folks. I've been on other forums...just too much bickering, and meanness for me. Perhaps that's what everyone is accustomed to, but prolly tired of. A new member takes a gander at some of the threads/posts here, and thinks it's the same-ol same-ol, with name callin and such. They don't KNOW that we are all really friends, and just pokin fun at each other....they just see what might be interpreted as flaming....and they move on.
A suggestion would be to at least use the available Smilies to lessen the perceived harshness of a post. IE; Joel, you big dummy!
Mama is one of those people that you cannot joke around with too much, because she doesn't always get the joke, or she make take offense at it. There are plenty of others like her, that just may not get it. Doesn't make them bad people, or people that don't have a right to be here....they're just different..or maybe it's US that are different.
Does that make sense?
We don't want to keep anyone from enjoying their visits here, be they Lifers, or Newbies. The real point is to please consider that a newbie might not get that inside joke...especially if it has nothing to do with the original topic. All that is being asked is to Please have some consideration for our New(er) Members when posting. Not ALL of them are nutz like some of us, but we would like for them to hang around, and get to know us. Remember, we were ALL newbies here once, and were made to feel Welcome....Just asking for everyone to continue that.

Wow! So, I'm fairly surprised at what a conversation this post has started.  I'm glad there are so many of you willing to share your thoughts and opinions on this matter.  Here are some more of my responses to some of the most recently postings...
I'm sure that some people lose site of how hard it is to run a web site. Its not just " plug and play" There is so much behind the scenes BS that has to happen, that it can become a full time job to own and run a websiste.
It does take a lot of time, money and energy to run a website (let alone multiple sites like I do). There is only one of me and hundreds of you. I wish this were a full time job for me and I could employ people to help me, but it isn't and I can't.  So it's just me.  That, unfortunately has a negative impact on the level of service some people expect. All I can do is just apologize and explain the situation and hope they are understanding.
What I sugest is everyone keep a dozen or so C3VR flyers in your vette and when you go to your local cruise nights hit on the C3 owners. Everyone hands out flyers at shows. Just do not leave them on the seats! put them on the dash or windshield or face to face

Great idea on the flyers actually.  Where do you get them or did you make them up?  In either case and someone put them on the site where a pdf of them could be downloaded and printed when we need them.
You can (and always have been able to) find a flyer for download under the "Home" menu at the top, "Window Flyer
You can print them out yourself and do like ebo is suggesting. Also, if you do not want to pay for the ink, paper and electricity to print them, I will be more than happy to send you a bunch. Simply email or PM me how many you think you need and the date you need them by.  Please give me at least a week's notice.
You ask for input, I gave you mine and because it wasn't what you wanted to hear maybe step back and take a look at it. In my business I learn a lot from my customers and ask often for their feedback.
I know I asked for feedback and I was expected good and bad (although hoping for little bad, of course.) The entire reason I sent out the survey was to see if anything needed changing. I'm certainly going to be taking all the feedback into consideration.  Also, I hope you understand that just like you all are entitled to voicing your opinion (whether I'm specifically asking for it or not), I too am entitled to explain, justify things or defend myself when I feel it is needed.
As far as the extra cost of membership I think that $50.00 to mail a T-Shirt and Laminated Dash Plaque outside the US is a bit much....... a summary of {SURVEY} results would be interesting to us all,
Please keep in mind, the items you list are the things sent out at startup of the lifetime membership.  You then have to consider that other things may be mailed to the member in the future, like Shark Bytes, and be able to cover those extra shipping costs in the future, for a lifetime.  Again, I'm not trying to screw anyone and make a ton of extra money just because they are non-US.  I'm just trying to cover my extra costs assocatied with it.  I will post the survey results soon.

Thank you all for your thoughts and comments.  And thank you all for your support!

Thanks for the summary Adam.  Thumbs Up

As a direct answer to Elderdjames,  It is a little known secret that the East Cost guys (everyone east of the Mississippi) on this forum are afraid that if given a chance the Left Coast guys will take over and they are also envious of our weather.

So to prevent that  there is a quota on joining from the Left Coast.  I think it is 1 for every 10 east coast guys.  Don't let Adam know I told you.  It is a deep dark secret (ebo told me all about it).  We Left Coast guys just have to work harder to get more C3 guys to join.  I'm printing some flyers up and soon we will over come and surprise them at a function. Come on Lemon Grove, CA .......Really.....that just sounds like a dream vacation spot!

Interesting thought about why with our limited driving seasons on East coast why more members are on this side of the map. ( I know Adam rebates the East Coast people 50% of the cost)

Is there figures on what states actually have the most vettes registered....?

Ebo Ebo Ebo ....

we have a member map to show where all the discounts are (certainly not in Utica !!)

Ps - I appreciated the survey, I responded, I don;t have a C3, and I enjoy the group, the banter, the off topicness, and most of all the people and the face 2 face events.

So there !

I know that silly....LOLLOL
Other than this site, like a DMV listing of Corvettes in each state. I would guess Florida or Califorina to have most vettes?

I no longer have a dozen of these forms in my car - I'm down to about 6 or so.  I've kept these in the car for a long time.  I always try to hand them to people and I know they've generated at least a few new members.  I don't go in to my full FunFest "sell" speech (ok, maybe sometimes) unless they start asking good questions.  This works especially well with the newbie owners.
