I would like to nominate Bill Cogan, Captn Bill.
He was here a lot, then missed a bit due to cancer and lung surgery. We are starting to see him again. I think he is a good candidate.

I didn't say if the person buying the membership was lifetime or not.
The person does want to remain annonymous and said to say that it is "someone who loves C3VR so much they wanted to give one of the most liked members a gift for a lifetime."
By the way...some of you aren't voting.. you're just posting "thanks to the member who is doing this". While you're at it... vote!!
Thanks!

I feel that the person most deserving of a lifer tag should meet the following but not limited to:
number of post, high than normal aveage
amount of help or knowledge they give, not just posting to be posting, (like me)
It would be helpfull if the field was narrow down too a few as mant as ten and then that list be given to the secret banker and have that person choose the lucky shark, I have no idea who to give it to.

Larry's got a good idea. I agree that there needs to be a criteria to follow. Once that has been established then maybe our cheif cheerleader (Adam) could post the worthy candidates in a poll and the active shark shiver could vote for the popular choice.[/QUOTE]
I agree with Tuxblacray... and Captn Bill...
A very noble gesture to offer a lifetime membership. Remember Ben? He was very active for a time and several members donated to make him a lifetime member and now he's gone. Make a donation to a charity in the name of this group to a charity. I really hate to sound negative, Ken has been a blessing to this place with his knowledge and advice on our cars, but he's one of a kind. If anyone here wants to be a part, they will stay.
I was active for a while and still check in from time to time, but I've noticed that it's become more of a forum for jokes and political opinions than a place to help each other with our vettes.
Just one person's opinion

Dave brings up some interesting points.
I have taken his last point and started a new thread about it so as to not let this thread get off-topic.
Also, a bunch of you have been asking for rules or requirements and a list of people to pick from for this free membership. I already gave you those rules in the original post. Just pick one person you think deserves it. It's that simple. If you don't want to post your nomination publicly, email me: AdamW@C3VR.com
Thank you.

Must agree with what Dave stated above. Giving away lifetime memberships is not going to work without some kind of criteria that the site owner and moderators come up with (whether it be every thousandth member that signs up, or the next member with the most kids). I'm sorry, but IMHO, you can create more bad feelings doing this the way you are than creating good feelings. Ben had his membership fees raised through the goodness of other member's hearts who wanted to see him stay and offer his considerable knowledge at a time when he was having difficulties and didn't think he would stay. Turns out he didn't, but that didn't diminish the thoughtfulness of the other members who raised the money to purchase his Life sentence. He is always welcome whenever he returns, due to that Life sentence!
Take the money you would spend on a membership and donate it like Dave said. What better way to make more people aware of C3VR, as an organization, a club, and a family. Don't make me choose one brother or sister over another because I love them all and think they should all get a lifetime membership! When there is a true need, the members of this forum will come through and do what is right and good for those who need it. That is what makes this forum better than any other on the net!
Bank on it!
I'm glad you mentioned that Dave. I've been biting my tongue hard.
Sorry Adam. Not meaning to get off topic. That deal with Ben bothers me.

Thanks Terry and Mark, but I feel inadequate in the Technical Department to be a big help (yet). I'm a workin' on it, learning a lot and used a lot of paper printing off advice. Everyone has been really great puttin' up with me.
This is going to make Capt. Bill mad, but I put in my vote for him.....you go Bill.......!

I suggest DaveM. Not just because i know the guy but he has been helpful with me and the others getting the northeast caravan together and other local shows with vettes. He has been willing to email and talk with others and i think he would be a good nominee for this treat.

Thank you Tuxblacray; I sure appericate that you still remember. But, myself, the first thing I did here was to make sure i was a lifetime member myself, and by the grace of Adam a moderator also .
My own feelings on this is that I dont care for it being a popularity contest, but I like the idea of it being given to someone who deserves it in some way. At the bare minimum, the donor needs to establish some sort of guidlines as to who should or should not be elegible.
I'm glad you mentioned that Dave. I've been biting my tongue hard.

I'm sorry to hear that...
I am still alive and well.. after spending nearly 18 months devoted to nothing but my corvette, spending countless hours on this forum and working on my beast, I was in need of a break. If you were one of the people who donated something to my lifetime membership I would be happy to give you (or anyone else for that matter) their money back. I just returned from a 3 week wedding trip to Croatia. I was married June the 21st in the city of Dubrovnik. In the time since I was last active (about a year now) I had the first floor and garage of my house damaged by a flood, taken a new job, moved, and gotten married. My wife has a large shop (her mother's old ceramic shop, 60 x 100) on her property, now that I am moving there, I will have room to work on the car again and can get my shop set back up. At that point I will be active again as I enjoy sharing my knowledge as much as learning from others.

Well look who's back. Welcome back Ben.
First off, everything I say is with sincerity.
I'm glad things are finally settling down for you and your bride. Congrats on the new job. Sorry to hear that your home was flooded. That sux and I hate to see anyone go through that. I understand everyone needs a break from things once in awhile. I've done it myself. Whether it be lack of time, illness, war, interest or someone stepped on my toes type of thing.
But I was disappointed as is some other members here that you seemed to up and leave. Not that you are indebited or obligated to be here. And nobody "owns" you here. As I was told. "It's your membership, and you can do what you want with it." But I feel that if I was in your shoes with all intentions of coming back. Not be like some "fly by night" take the freebie and run individual. I would of at least had the decency of posting a couple of times in the past year that you are still with us. How long does it take to type C3VR.com and a quick "Hi I'm alive still." A year? You follow what I'm getting at? And even if I did donate, I would never ask for money back. That would be an "Indian giver", that I'm not.
I'm done with my opinion or rant, whatever you what to call it. Welcome back anyways. Looking forward to seeing the progress on your vette and tech help.
