I was just wondering, is there a map of the USA that shows where the members are located?

If not, would be kinda fun to see where all the members were and closest to ones home town.  You know, the map could be like the "push pins" or some thing like that.  I don't know how difficult it would be to make...

Just an idea, Thanks      steve

Huh, whadda ya know. I guess I should check that more often myself. There's two members in Shreveport I didn't know about, just 20 miles or so from me, Vetteguy75 and trial member Robert9393 with a '68 vert. I didn't know there were any members or chromies in Shreveport! Never seen one. Thumbs%20Up

Also, try the Members Search under the "Members" button and then use the Zip Code Search listed on the page.  You can search for members up to 50 miles from your home.

BTW,  Adam (if you read this) can this search be widened to more than 50 miles?

Thanks everyone for advise.  I was only able to find one "former" member near me.  I used the "search" option and yes I agree with Biff,  it should be increased to more than 50 miles.  For me it should be more like 100 or even 200 miles?

I still like my map of the USA idea with the "push pins" concept.
But what do I know....

I agree with you on the map thing, although there are members in other countries also. It would be nice if the zip search allowed you to pick the distance up to a couple hundred miles.Big%20smile Aaron19762008-04-27 22:11:28

Adam, Microsoft Map Point allows for the "push pin" idea and will allow a graphical mapping showing member concentrations geographically...

i like the push pins concept too.  perhaps, if you made it a bit easier. take the map of the world rather than just the north america continent.  have the cursor be able to go over a particular state, country, region, providence etc.. and highlight it, or click it and open it up to a list of IDs and towns so you can contact those people closest to you.

As far as the search option, i would atleast like to see it go to 100 miles away so if there is enough advance notice i can invite people from the near by states to an event rather than people just 50 miles away from me. When i do a search it doesnt even go past central jersey from me so i cant invite anyone from southern jersey etc to an event or BBQ because i am limited a distance.

just an idea. but a good one.

When you live in a rural area the 50 mile radius just isn't valid for finding anyone other than searching from other towns/cities. The map idea sure has my vote for "The Best Improvement" for 2008 - if there was such a contest! Insurance goes on next weekend!!! Yippeeee. . . .

You got that right dfcblujeans, when you live in the boondocks like I do, 50 miles isn't very much.  I live in a real small town of 800 people, and nearest other town is 21 miles.  Would really be neat to do a search of say 200 miles and see who turns up Shocked....

It would be nice to be able to search a greater distance. I'm sure Adam can handle it. Wink

Hey Longhorn, whats your population? and where did you live in OR/ northern CA?  Why'd you move?

See, if we had one of those pin maps I could see you all by yourself in the boondocks in that big ole state of Texas ......Wacko

That would be a neat pole to take:  Who lives in the smallest town???

Population? Dunno. Ain't nothin on the sign. Prolly a hundred or so scattered anound the hwy and woods.
I lived in SF, Mill Valley, Larkspur, San Rafael, Forest Knolls and Petaluma, trying to stay ahead of the crowd! Petaluma was nice in '85, but just had to get out of the fast lane. DeadLOL I only miss the trout and steelhead fishing and my '70 Vette I had then. Some day I'll get my '71 to run like that '70 did!Thumbs%20Up

Small towns and rural areas - GREAT!! My "town" is 6 miles away and boasts 306 people and 329 dogs. One industry, a cheeze factory that quit makin' cheeze 'cause the international market was flooded so they make milk powder. Post office (1 employee), insurance agent (1 employee), town office (1 employee), etc., etc.
