I haven't sent any for about two weeks but I didn't have any problems, then. In fact, I like this new system (old system) better because when you type in the first couple of letters of the name it gives you the choices. I'll have to send one and see.

Does this happen every single time you try?  Have you tried closing your browser, opening it up and trying again?

You have to watch those lifetime members sometimes they for get to pay the bill.

PM's sometimes fail to work for me but it has always been issues with my brower.

Once it told me It could not send and was actually sending anyway my PM. That really had me and the guy I was PM'ing confused.  Again it was a browser issue cleared cookies and history and it started working again.

I have been having the same issue, it has happened several times. I end up doing a copy and opening up the site again in another window then creating a whole new PM to the person, pasting in the info and then sending it out. That always works.
I did not bother to mention it as by that time I'm to T'd off to write about it....

Hi Gang.

You do know if you get the error message, there is a link that comes up where the "Send Message" button was that tells you to click it to try to resend, right?

If that does not work, you don't have to retype your message!
Simply, highlight your entire message, copy it to the clipboard (paste it to notepad, if it makes you more comfortable).
Then reload/refresh the page. Paste it back into the message body, then Send Message.

That usually does the trick.

Here's the thing... I can't get the error to occur, so it makes it really hard to figure out what the problem is and therefore be able to fix it.

I'll have to change the way it sends PMs. I'll do it as soon as I can.

Thanks.

Albo(and others)....are you ONLY having issues when REPLYING to P/Ms, or also when doing a NEW P/M?
I haven't had any issues with either, on any of the Registry sites. I do know that sometimes, the member's NAME will cause an error to occur....I've had that happen MANY time due to the apostrophe in my user name, as well as some others. I normally just type in the name myself, if there is a weird name, instead of hitting reply and hoping it works.
I also know that when Adam first got the P/Ms back up and running, I kept seeing an error message, but it WAS sending the message...but I'm on dial-up at home, so my screen doesn't always show things that have already happened...."That's SO 28 seconds ago....".LOL

Don't know if any of this helps, but it is just my observation....
If there was an error submitting your message, you may click here to try again.
Is this the message ya'll are seeing? OR you seeing something else?

ebo, One of the differences between an error during pm creation vs post creation is that if you get an error posting a pm you can click the link to "try again." When you click that link, the pm you just created will reappear. At that point you should highlight the text (click inside the message box and press Ctrl-A) and copy it to the clipboard Ctrl-C). Then refresh the page (F5). Then click inside the message box and paste (Ctrl-V) the post back in and click the Send button. That should work and keep you from having to retype the pm again.

This happened to me today, for the first time. It simply had a red "ERROR" with no explanation. I had to do it 3 times before it finally went thru. I did not type out a new message, or copy/paste...just kept clicking on the "Try again" button.

It has happened to me too.  I know this isn't a fix, but it is a workaround that has always worked for me:
 • If you get an error posting a pm you can click the link below the error to "try again," the pm you just created will reappear.
 • Highlight the text you entered (click inside the message box and press Ctrl-A)
 • Copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl-C).
 • Refresh the page (F5).
 • Click inside the message box and paste (Ctrl-V) the post back in and
 • Click the Send button.
That should work and keep you from having to retype the pm again.

It looks like a lot of steps, but it isn't. I'm just trying to be very detailed so everyone understands how to do it.

Thanks.

Oh, also, I've noticed if you're doing a reply and your reply plus the original text (or thread) is too long, it will error no matter what.  So if you can't seem to make the error go away, remove all the text expect your reply, then try again.
I'll fix it as soon as I can.
Thanks.

ebo,
The ones for which you got an error, where they particularly long?  Like over 5 sentences?

LOL now thats funny LOL you ever known me to be short on talking......I'm sure they were long, I'll keep this short, I sent one out this morning and t was fine.  The one for billinnashville was long but the others may not have been 5 sentences.
Some times I space the sentences to deliver the punch line in perfect timing....

POS P/M system.....Censored Angry Thumbs Down Censored

I know this hasn't come up recently, but....I had a couple of P/Ms this evening to reply to. Typed out a long reply to the first one, hit "Reply, and get the Error message. Hit "Try again", same s#$t. after 3-4 times, I gave up. Went to the second P/M, long drawn out reply, same crap, Error message. I did NOT try to delete the quoted text and then send...that may have worked, but I would up going into the forums, finding a post by the folks I got the P/M from, and clicked on "Send P/M". I had copied both of my messages, so I pasted, hit "Send", and they BOTH went right thru.

I guess the quoted, or original text keeps the message from going thru, but like I said, I dint try deleting that and seeing if it worked that way...I got too friggin frustrated.....

otay...I vented...I feel better now....back to your regularly scheduled programing....Stern Smile

Joel,
Sorry you're having trouble.
You are right. Sometime if the PM (including the quoted reply(ies)) is too long, it will not go through.  Removing the quoted section usually makes it work just fine.
I have yet to be able to figure out why it does not work. I'll keep trying.

If you go to your PM Outbox, you'll be able to see the PMs you sent successfully, and the envelope icon next to them will indicate if they have been read or not.
