Here's jbox1's original signature picture (448x299 pixels).
 
Here it is resized to 400x267 pixels which is the recommended max width of an image for posting in a thread.   
 
 
Notice much difference?  In this instance no.  But when an image gets more than 640 pixels wide or tall you will begin to notice a difference in the loading time of a page, especialy if you're on a dial-up connection.
 
 
And here is the way I modified his signature.  The 200x134 pixel size image is actually a clickable hot link to his largest image.
 
 
 
It actually took me longer to put this reply together and preview it than it did to :
-- download Jim's full sized picture,
-- resize it, upload that image,
-- resize it again to signature size, upload that image, and
-- modify and preview his forum signature
-- edit the reponse to correct a spelling error
 
Once you get the hang of resizing images the rest is just as easy.

Well, i worked on it for two days, and i finally got my picture downsized to the legal limit!  i had to go to 160 x 108 for some reason.  i thought computers were supposed to make life easier!Wink

Jim I upload my pics into Webshots and they make it easy for ya to use. They have it preformatted so all you have to do is pick the pic size ya want and yer good ta go. (Like my cousins 69 here)
