Unfortunately it is the only connection available to me.  Satelite is too expensive for my budget, I'm too far away from a switch to get DSL, and cable is not strung down my road because of too few homes to justify the cost.
 
Dial-up is alive (and still slow)...!!!

I own a local ISP in addition to my day job and we have been weening people off of dialup for a few years now..
 
I cant wait until it finally dies a horrible death.
