I have a question for ya guys....

I got the Torque Thrust 2 wheels... however they are polished aluminums. THey will require specific wax, or cleaner to keep clean, and protect the finsih. Acid based is out. Anything that could cause rust is out. I found two products so far:
Wheel Wax
Eagle One Aluminum Wash and Cleaner

What does everyone think?
Any personal reccomendations?

Thanks guys...

Mother's aluminum polish. You can get it anywhere and it's great on those wheels. Polished wheels take a lot of maintenance, but the end result is worth it!

Check out Zoop Seal.

I've never used it, but I've heard good things about it.

It is supposed to seal a polished wheel and keep it looking "fresh" for a long time, requiring less maintenance.

I use "FLITZ" on my rims. Works very well. As Dave says, polished rims have to be maintained, or they will get dull quickly.

I also use Flitz and have used Mothers Wheel Polish on my wheels.  Both work well, just takes a lot of time and elbow grease.

I PICKED UP THE POWERBALL BECAUSE MY CAR HAD BEEN SITTING FOR OVER A YEAR AND THE WHEELS LOOKED LIKE CRAP, OXIDIZED, VERY DULL FINISH. USED THE MOTHERS BY HAND FIRST, LOT OF HARD WORK. THE POWERBALL DOES A BETTER JOB IN A FRACTION OF THE TIME. YOU CAN LITERALLY DO THE ENTIRE 4 WHEELS IN 10 MIN.
WELL WORTH THE $

A lot of polished rims are clear coated, so u have to be careful of that. The clearcoat has to be removed before u can polish the rims and then reapplied after u r done. I usually use Boyd's chrome polish every winter to clean and polish my rims and then cleaar coat them. They last the whole season and all I have to do is wash them to keep them looking nice

Can the powerball be used on wire spoke like mine? I am all about anything that will cut down the time it takes me to clean these demonic tortures.
If so the next question is can I buy the powerball off of the shelf somewhere?
I think I saw the thing advertised on the tube one day and of course it was the best thing since sliced bread. I just hadn't heard or talked to anyone who had used one.

It may be to big to get in between the spokes? But on the larger parts of the rim it would be ok. I'v never seen it anywhere but on the tube..My sons rims were in really bad shape and we took a chance. It worked great on his rims and then dad took ownership of the ball buffer.HE,HE

another question, i used Mother's Aluminum polish on Ian's polished aluminum wheels with great results. It took a lot of work, polish, time, and rags. But my question is: does the polish and rags ever stop turning black? or does it when you are done?, if that is the case then I'll never get there!

Zoop Seal does work great, I've seen it on Billet pieces and they don't compare to uncoated pieces.  If anyone is interested I've got a complete Zoop Seal Kit for sale.  Box was opened but none of the bottles or anything else inside opened, heres a link to the kit I've got.

http://www.zoopseal.com/product-detail.asp?prodID=95502

$99 kit for $50 anyone?

After reading all this I went to the "Zone" and bought a Powerball this AM and some Mother's polish for my stock '78 slotted wheels. Been looking for one since they started advertising them last year...

I have the American Racing Torq 2 wheels. They offer the wheels with the spokes chromed for more bucks. I use American Racing wheel cleaner and wax. It can be purchased as a kit for $13.99 from Summit Racing. The can says that it's factory metal polish. The can, has a plastic bag inside, that contains serpentine material that has the polish already in the material. You cut off a couple inch piece and go to town, working over the oxidized aluminum.........it really works. It turns black with the oxidized aluminum that is removed. It's reeeeeeeeeal easy. The wax that they want you to use is also very easy. The wax is real whipped up, so it's very easy to put on. You should try it.........I really like the stuff!  By the way Mothers also makes a mini power ball with an extension. The extension plastic sleave, doesn't rotate.........so that you can manuaver it into weird ares, like engine parts, and small spoke areas on your wheels!    corvette440hp2007-01-27 17:55:16

Is it the same thing as Never Dull? It all so comes in a can and is impregnated in the polishing wool. It works great on some alum. but not all.Ermm

I'm not familiar with Never Dull! The product sounds very close...impregnated wool and all. American Racing states on the can; that it's the same stuff used at the factory. I keep using, the same couple inch piece to do an entire wheel.........it really works for me.......hope it works for the rest of the guys! corvette440hp2007-01-27 18:31:09

The PowerBall made a slight dent in the cruddy old wheels after about 4 hours work and a sore back. I finally broke down and had the wheels professionally polished for $75.00/ each. Best spent $300.00 ever!!!

Never Dull is the same type stuff. It has a compound impregnated into a wadding cloth. It is most commonly utilized for aluminium in marine applications. My father brought me back some from Florida several years ago and I have utilized the stuff with good results ever since. on new aluminium such as mirrors) it will shine it up like chrome.
If the wheels are in really bad shape I think ya are gonna hafta utilize the steps Dave (Autom8tr) indicated 1st as previously indcated. Likewise if ya have clearcoat on them that will hafta be stripped away.

I've used the rags and waxing pads with aluminum polish but it takes a LOT of elbow grease.  I found that the Powerball Mini is great for polishing my wheels and takes a lot of work out of the process.  I use Mothers aluminum polish and it gives a nice bright non-mirror finish which was exactly what I was looking for.  For turning the Mini, I use a corded drill, my cordless one just didnt have the UMMPH to do the job.

Zoop seal will do the job and it will last several yrs.Yes Years. You can find it in motorcycle shops or on line. It's kinda $$$ but it does last so I guess in the end it balances out price wise.

I wonder if Zoop Seal will protect my wheels from dogpiss???? My Jack Russell LOVES my wheels and would mark his spot there daily if I did not have barriers beside them!!

The guy who polished my wheels gave me a bottle of "Busch" super shine aluminum polish and claims he uses it and it is the best protectant for polished aluminum...

A TRUE FRIEND, INDEED! DOGS ARE MAN'S BEST FRIENDS! My wife thinks that all guys understand dogs and vice/versa, because man decended from dogs. I don't have a problem with that, because I understand dogs better than, I'll EVER understand women....but I still dig them.....they have some cool equipment!

Just tried "Never Dull",I like it. Acccidently sprayed a wheel with carb cleaner and it diddn't like it ( stained ).There's a lot of great stuff out there, but there is still only one way to do the job easily, Pay some one else to do itLOL.
