Thanks, Tom!
I also have the last 2 numbers of the VIN(E77) on the rear crossmember of the '74. They apparently used a green grease marker that day.
Thanks for sharing the info!
Thanks for the effort and information.  I haven't got a clue as to where my pace car 1Z8748S900625 fits into the scheme but I believe the information for mine is that it was built in April 1978.
END QUOTE   -  You are closer than I am.  I went back to the build sheet and the info I got from NXRS,and thr Heritage Foundation and finf the build date to be March 29, 1978,  The April date came from it's delivery to and subsequent sale by Rydell Chevrolet in Grand Forks, ND.  Glad to habe it foen here in warmer weather,
Thanks for setting me straight.

Tom, I'll be interested in hearing what you find out about #0003. Mine #3958 was built H17. Came from a dealer in Kent, CT. I talked to you back in the winter about the build sheet. Car's coming back from paint within the next month.
Tom, (yarbrote), Looks like you got a real early one with #625.

I'm curious among Pace Car owners with a non-FE7 suspension and that have retained the original shocks. What part number is on your shocks?

I ask because I have this theory, based on build sheet shock broadcast codes, that all pace cars were equipped with a heavy duty shock due to the P255 tires. Those with non-FE7, were equipped with the "early" FE7 rear shock while FE7 vehicles were installed with the HD rear shock that carried over into 1979.

Jeffm - yes sir, it appears that my 0625 is early in the run.  It is an L82 anf I'm getting some grief from my wrench on my thought to repaint it Chaparral White.  Apparently there were less than 400 L82 Pace Cars built, either 4-speed or automatic and he thinks it should remain as original as possible.

If Pace Car 00004 has not been found yet, and if the ad is for the real deal, it's up on ebay now:

Or you could buy Mike Yeager's Pacer:

Mike's car was a No Sale @ $15,000...
IF the other(#4) car is real, I'd sure wanna see the VIN tag in person. #4 supposedly had a salvage title when sold a few years back....

The VIN that shows on the window sticker looks right...

Yeah, but...I wouldn't put a whole lotta stock in paperwork at this level. That's prolly the easiest stuff to fake. Not to say there is anything bogus about this car, just pointing out the need to make sure it's legit, if anyone is actually looking to purchase it.
I wonder what the reserve is on it this time....

HEY MARK!!! This thing is up there in yore part of the country(Seattle)......whaddya say?
