I don't know of anyone else that reports intermittently getting topic replies.
If you are subscribed to a given topic then you should be getting replies to that topic emailed to you any time there is a reply (except your own reply to that topic).
If you are getting email notifications for the same thread only intermittently, and you are the only one getting them intermittently, then I'd have to suggest that the issue is on your email system.  There is no reason the email notices would only intermittently be sent from here to you and only you. Perhaps C3VR emails are being filtered out by your email system. Marked as SPAM or junk or something like that.
Might I suggest you sign up for a C3VR Email account and change your profile to use that new emails address and see what happens?

Thanks Boss. I just noticed something else. My email notification list goes back to 05. Could it be I need to delete a bunch to give more space? BTW, I did delete a bunch and got notification of this post and a few more. These emails aren't getting into my spam folder. Also it started long ago before I made any changes to my email account.
I'm sure I'll get this figgered out. "T"

the old subscriptions have no bearing on the new ones. Each subscription is on a thread by thread basis.
I'd stick with the "try the C3VR Email" idea for now.

Ok, so now I need a better explanation of this from you both.

How do you know you are NOT receiving email notices?

Btw, I've received a notice about each reply to this thread (except my own) so far.

When I log on and see a topic I had subscribed to with lots more replies I've never seen, I know I'm not being notified of them.  I used to be a cop...in the law enforcement world, we called that a "clue"!  LOL

I did receive a reply notice from you as well...so far, so good.

Do you guys have the  "Notify me of replies to posts" option set to "Yes" in your Forum Settings?
Are you sure before you submit replies to a thread the "Email Notify me of Replies" box is checked just above the "Post" button?
If you you had previously replied to/posted a thread and indicated you wanted notifications, then came back later and replied to the same thread but that box isn't checked, it will cancel your notifications to the thread.

I think that is what is happening, Adam.
Terry, and Bruce(and anyone else having this issue), you can "subscribe" to a forum topic, but unless you check the "Email notify me of replies" box after making a post yourself, you won't get an email. If you start a thread, and check the box, you'll get emails for each reply after yours...until YOU make another post in that thread, and then you'll have to again click the Email Notify box.
IF you guys are clicking the box, and still not getting email notices, I think it would have to be some kind of communication issue with the email service. I know I get emails notices daily on the forums/threads I want to watch, or need emails about.
I know it's frustrating...believe me! One way or another, it will get figured out.Big smile

When I reply to a post the email notify box is already checked, I don't have to do it. I am thoroughly convinced that the problem is not with the site. I would use the C3VR email, but I just started a website, www.theradiatorhospital.com,  and use that mail address. Now here's the unexplainable. Sine I started this thread I have tweaked a couple things and have received all of these posts and a whole bunch more.Confused
I'm not sure what I did, but we'll see how long this lasts.

Next time you come to a thread that you think you should have gotten notifications for, but didn't.... BEFORE replying, click the "Topic Options" button at the top-right of the thread.  Does the last option on the list that comes up say "Watch" or "Un-Watch" This Topic?

After my reply above, I have only gotten ONE notice...and it was for the two posts BEFORE I made mine!
The Topic Options says "Unwatch". The "Email Notify me of Replies" box(below) was checked when I typed this message, too.
Maybe the C3VR server has "become aware", and is starting the revolution, and the countdown to Armageddon....."I'll be bach"...

Ok. I found your answer.
In the lastest version of the forum software, they added something that most forums already do....

It will only send one notification per forum or topic since members last visit.

Meaning, you log in, subscribe to a topic, someone replies, you get a notice, you don't go to the site yet, someone else replies to the topic, you will not get notified, someone else replies, you still don't get notified, you view the thread (you reply or don't), someone else replies, you WILL get notified.

Make sense?

It's to prevent sending emails to people that don't log in often.  And really, all you need is the one notice, which has a link that will take you to the thread, and you can read all replies that have been posted.  You don't really need to be notified of EVERY reply if you haven't been in since the first time it notified you.

OK got it. Your right, that is the way most other sites do it. However personally I don't like it. If I have a thread that's important to me and I don't have the time to log onto the site and check for posts all the time, I can read the posts in my email.
I'll live with it but that's my honest opinion.

Yes, but from a "business standpoint" it makes more sense to "force" you to come back for page views. Sponsors like page views. They don't get page views if you're only reading emails.

Most sites only send you a notice that a reply has been made but forces you to click the link to read the reply.  I have that option here too, but I know people like to get the text of the reply in the email, so I keep it that way.

Call it a compromise. Big smile

I thought I had the same problem, but after reading the explanation; it's very clear now.  Makes 100% sense.  However, I would suggest to add an option (if at all possible); let's say I get the last notification; read the reply from my gmail inbox and don't go back to this particular thread.  If someone else bring the thread back to life a month or so later, it will probably go unanswered, as I won't go back to it without notification.  So maybe an option could be to still send a notification when it gets updated, if I haven't been to that thread in the last 30 days or so.

Just my .02

Steph.

Count me into the scenario as well. It was sporadic until I returned on a regular basis to update a certain post.

It is important to folks who maintain posts or for those who are seeking answers from a given post.

I understand the change and find this registry to be similar in operational design to similar forums.

Not a big deal for me..... but yep it is different than it once was.

See.... we were only being ignored from a Business Standpoint.....

After spending a Gazillion years in management I understand this totally.... It doesn't make sense.

If you don't notify me I may not come back....

Point in case....

I've been away for several days. I am updating the Gathering Hotel Post. I received no notification that lukesvette had signed up.

but.... I did get a notification from T-Mans 70,73 in his reply to Paul. So I went to the site to see what the heck T-man was talking about.

So.......

nothin from Paul = NO LOOKY

somethin from T-Man = GO LOOKY....

Just the opposite thought process to get a desired result.

Besides, This is part of the root cause folks keep askin me why their name isn't on the list. It's cause I don't know they have signed up. I don't check the site as often as I once did.

For me it is a nice reminder to have a site notify me.

I like it.  I think that is a good idea.  A forum is to share and that is what is so great about his one.  If you do not log on then you cannot share so I do not have any problem with the setup the way it is.

I did notice that I only get one response to a Forum now where I used to get a bunch.  I just use the email to tell me I need to log in to get information.

OK I have to say that after some time with this new email notification I need to say I don't like it. I find I don't visit as often as I did when I got the thread reply notification each time. When that was the case I would quite often log on to reply to the thread and in turn navigate around checking out the other threads. It actually forced me to log into the site more often than it does now. I would suggest maybe keeping an eye on number of visits now as compared to the old way.

I want the old way back.

Sorry but that's my story and I'm stickin to it. However I must say "I still luv ya'll." Hug
Most of you won't respond to this post anyway because you won't get an email notification. Wink"T"

Keep up the good work, Larry.  Can I assist you in any way?

I'm with Terry. If I don't get an e-mail notification, I don't visit.
I'm replying here because I got notified.
Why, I don't know.
The only think that saves me is the weekly summary of what was posted.
That comes on Friday, so I have all weekend to catch up.

As for reading the ads, I pretty much ignore them.

I actually have to agree with Terry. Shocked

I will see what I can do to return it to the old-fashioned way.  I may even have a chance tonight once the kids are in bed.

I think when I first changed the code, it emailed EVERYONE about my reply, even if they never replied to this thread.  That should have only happened once.

Whoops! Sorry!

Hey Guys,
In the for-what-it's worth category...I received an e-mail notification that there was activity on this thread...but I never partipated in it.  That's OK, gives me a chance to wish everyone a good Thanksgiving.
Now I'm in this thread...let's see what happens on the notification end...
Bob
