Been seeing many references to the website not acting correctly on some other topics. I too thought maybe it was just my computer but apparently not. Guess we need to start one on that subject. I've been noticing with more frequency that when clicking on a link it either takes me back to the same place I clicked on or to some where I didn't want to go, or not doing anything at all. Sometimes have to double or triple click the back button to get to go back where I was. I'm using latest version Internet Explorer with Windows 7 if that helps. Any input from others? Disapprove

Can you guys be much more specific....

What are you clicking on?
What page are you on when you clicked it?
What do you see after you click it?
What did you do right before you clicked it?

Does it always happen in the same place?
Does it happen in different placed? Which?

The more detail you can give me, the better I can find it and fix it.

Thanks.

Here is what happened on just this visit:

1) I clicked on this topic from the "past 24 hour" page and it took me the "past 24 hour tech topics" instead of this post. 2nd try worked ok.

2) Hitting back button once on browser did nothing. Had to double click it then it took me back, of course 2 pages but I went back.

Well, I typed here that:

I've tried to go from the default launch page to the 24 hour page and when the page loads, I'm back on the defualt page.

I've also clicked on a post and had the 24 hour or default page (can't recall if it's been one or both of these scenarios).

When I clicked to post this, my text disappeared and the reply window came back up blank.

I'll try again and I'll watch for more specific examples...

Having same problems as listed. Clicked on page 2 for the west coast meet recommendations and took me to the page for posts in the last 24hrs. Tried to come here to post problems and kept taking me to the last 24 hour post page. May be it didn't want me to post up problems LOL

I've been having the same type of problems, and like all of you, thought it was just me.  Just tried to go from 24hr page to this thread and it sent me back to the start page.  Clicked it all again and was able to get to this thread.  Maybe we got some gremlins while down in Charleston??  Evil Smile

After thinking about this some more (and reading the other comments), what I think is the issue is that when you click on a link to go somewhere else, the current page you are on (or maybe the default or 24 hour page) reloads.

Again, we'll keep our eyes open to give you specifics

...and it just happened again when I hit "Post."  I'm learning to copy what I type so I don't have to re-type it...

Ya'll are gunna hafta give Adam more info to be able to determine WHERE/WHAT the prollem is.
What browser/version are you using(IE, Firefox)?
What OS(Windows XP, 7, etc)?

I have to log in MANY times on the 'puter at the shop, both for here, and the other Registry sites(C4/6VR), but not here at home. That is a BROWSER issue...not a site problem, afaik. Try looking at the "Having Problems Logging In?" post in the FAQ....that will help most of ya, I think.

I have not had the issue of clicking on one thing, and it taking me to something else, or repeatedly going back to the same page. That's a new one, and I'm certainly happy it ain't ME having that problem. I'm usually the only one that ever has issues, and it's mostly due to being on dial-up here at home, BUT....I have MORE problems with the shop 'puter, and it is a high-speed connection, but an older WindowsXP/Firefox version.

Anyway....Adam has to have all of the proper info to be able to determine what the issues are, and how to correct them. Help him help YOU! Thumbs Up

Seems to be getting worse...

Tried to reply to another post and got kicked to the default page.  Then I've tried four or five times to be able to reply to this post and keep getting kicked to the default page.

Hopefully this posts...  Nope, not first try...

Things like "it will not take me to the all other post area" are not helpful to me.  I don't know what "it" is and I don't know what the "all other post area" is.  Please be as incredibly specific as you can.  Pretend I'm a 2 year old and you have to explain it to me for the first time.

Also, which browser you are using is important (thanks, Joel). So please let me know which you are using when you experience the problem.

For those of you having trouble, you may want to try the instructions you can find here to clear your cookies. But keep in mind, it will delete ALL cookies for ALL sites you've visited. What that means is that if you've saved passwords after logging into a site, you'll have to enter your passwords again for C3VR and all those sites too. Basically, clearing cookies is like telling your computer to act like you've never visited any website before.  So make sure you're ok with this outcome before you do it.

Thanks!

I've been experiencing the multiple signin issue.  Cleared temp files and the C3VR cookie, logged in, went to reply to this thread and had to log in again.  Hopefully I won't have to log in again to get this posted.  It has not been consistent in where I am in the site.  Sometimes I can refresh the page and I'm logged in again, sometimes not.

Using IE 7.

I clicked on the 24 hour active thread list to see if there is something I want to look at.
Then I logged in and clicked on the thread and I had to log in again immediately.

Last night I clicked on the 24 hour active thread list and decided to offer some suggestions to Redwingvette's tire issue. So I logged in and typed out my reply, clicked on Post and then I had to log in again. I logged in again and tried to re submit my post and I had to re log in again losing everything I wrote. Needless to say I gave up.

I'm using Firefox on my Mac and my internet connection is Verizon Fios.

This is just too weird. I have the exact same log-in issue at the shop, but NEVER here at home. The shop 'puter is a pos, and the boss has it set up to NOT store any cookies, nor can I go into the tool box area and clear the cache, or anything else.
It runs Winders XP, and Firefox, but I don't know what version of FF it is. I just updated FF here at home(FF13.somethingorother) last week, and am running Winders 7 on dial-up.
Weird that I seem to be the only one NOT having log-in issues...it's usually the other way around.

Adam is a two year old...that's a gud one! But...I have trouble unnerstanding some of the posts, too. "I click on a link, and it takes me back to the page I just clicked on." I'm sorry, but that just goes right over me haid! LOL

Adam, I will add this observance....it seems that all of these issues just started about the same time you changed the 24hr page to only list tech threads, and added the "Like" buttons. Don't know if that has anything to do with it, but that's when I first noticed some of the issues cropping up.

Interesting observation.

There is no way the 24 hour list change would cause this problem, but possibly the Like buttons.  So I've taken out the Like buttons temporarily to see if it makes a difference.
Please let me know if anyone is still having the problem.

Thanks.

Here I am at "work" now, and I had to log in twice. Once when I first clicked on the site, then I came to this thread, and I was no longer logged in. But...I have said, this is ONLY a problem for me at werk, on the work 'puter. I'm thinking this is a browser issue, as far as MY issue.
I did just update the FF browser here, and it made no difference....it's just the way the boss has this 'puter set. Once again, I NEVER have to re-log in at home...just here at werk...

Otay...THIS post posted, but when the page came back up with my new post, I was logged out again, even tho my post posted...if that helps.

Ok. I just rebooted the server.
Let's see if that helps.

I really have no idea what's going on, or how to fix it.

I'm just trying things right now to see if it helps.

btw..I have the same issue with the C4VR site, too, but ONLY here at work....I STILL think this is gunna be a browser issue...

AND the C6VR..BUT...NO issues on the C7VR site...it has different software tho, right?

Adam, for ME, I have NOT been doing that here at work. I don't want anyone else to have access. However...I just did do that for this session. We'll see if that makes a difference.
On my home 'puter, YES...that box has been clicked since day one.

bytw...When I logged in just now, It showed me logged in, and went to the 24 hr Tech only page. I clicked on the regular "24 hr active thread list" under the forums drop down, came to this page...and was logged out. When I logged back in, I clicked the "Save my stuff on my 'puter" box....let's see if it worked.

As a side note, I logged into the C7VR site this morning, and made a post there....two hours ago. I just went back to that site, and I was STILL logged in. I made an edit to my post there, had NO problems, and did not have to log back in there.

Ok, here is another couple of problems I have run into, when I clicked on post a reply to this thread it sent me to a login page when I was already loged in. The other issue is trying to read some posts on here, like (water temp) and needing a screen 14ft long to read the post?

I'm using a military system w/ IE and windows 7 enterprise dont know which version of IE.

Just to let y'all know, I'm not having any issues on my iPad 2 iOS 5 with Safari or on my home computer, Windows 7 Pro with IE 9 or Firefox. Only issue I see is somewhat of a slow page load time on all my devices. Not terribly slow, but enough to notice.

Fred, the pages where the text is spread across half of Texas is due to folks inserting images that are TOO LARGE. I try to catch them, but sometimes it takes a while to get them taken care of. That is NOT a site issue...it's a user issue.

On to login issues...Adam, I clicked the "Save my info on my 'puter" box earlier today...around 10am or so(?)...I have NOT had to re-log on since then...and this puter has been idle since 12pm. Clap It has kept me logged in, even tho I have NOT even been on the puter since lunchtime.
So, that solve MY log-in issues.

Technically, you're not really "logged in" for that many hours in a row if you haven't been active.  What checking that box does is that when you browse to any page on the site, after having NOT been on any page of the site for a very long time (like over 90 minutes), it will automatically log you in, but you won't see the login page. So you appear to still be logged in, when in reality, you were not.

This may not fix the problems you've been having getting around, but it might.

If you still get the thing where you click a link to a thread or forum and it takes you to the home page, you may still appear to be logged in, but will have wound up in the wrong place.

If the problem still happens when you are trying to submit a post, it may lose your post, but you may still appear to be logged in, and could be returned to the entry form, or somewhere else.

You just have to keep me posted on it.

Like a mechanic diagnosing a car problem, if it doesn't happen for me and doesn't happen consistently it's very hard to figure out!

Ok....here's what just hapened to me...no problem logging in ever, have login saved...when I click my saved "favorites" link which is supposed to be the "Active threads past 24 hours" it takes me to "Active C3VR Tech threads", which I can live with. Went down to the link and clicked for the "Active threads past 24 hours" and it took me there. Then clicked on link to read the"BBC LS5 454....." thread and it took me back to the "Active C3VR Tech threads" page. Did this twice to me. Got back on "Active threads past 24 hours" page to report this and clicked on the "Time for a post on the way forum is acting" thread and it took me there to it...but when I clicked on the page 2 link it took me back to the "Active C3VR Tech threads" page again. Back buttoned to "time for post..." page and finally got to page 2. Went down and clicked on "Post Reply" button on bottom and it took me to the "Active C3VR Tech threads" page again...it did this 4 times until I finally got page to write up this reply. To me it seems as though the real problems started with the "Active C3VR Tech threads" page implementation. Again I am using Internet Explorer...most recent version, Windows 7. This happens pretty much on a daily basis. I have "Firefox" and "Chrome" installed, I will try them for a few days and see if there is any difference.

Ok, so the change in the Home Page only showing the Tech threads could not have caused this problem.  The only change I made to that is which threads get shown in the list. Not functionality was changed.

It does not seem to be the Like buttons, because even after I removed them, folks still had problems.

So I'm going to ask you guys that are having the problem to try to do one more thing for me....

When you are on a page and about to click a link (not about to submit your newly entered post), but just a link to take you somewhere, like form the Active Thread List to a Thread.... BEFORE you click the link, hover your mouse over the link and look at the status bar of your browser (usually the bottom left) and look to see what URL appears there. It should be something that makes sense.  Like if you're going to the Active Threads list, then you should see "24hours" in the URL.  If you're going to a forum link (like a thread, reply or category, you should see "vrforums" in the URL.

If you do see what looks to be correct in the URL, click it.  If it takes you to a place you are not expecting, let me know what it SHOULD have gone to and what it DID go to.

If you do not see what looks to be correct in the URL, then let me know what page you were on when you saw the wrong URL and what link you were hovering over.

I'm trying to figure out if the problem (disconnect/logoff/etc) is happening BEFORE or AFTER you click a link.  (My guess, right now, is after).

Thanks!

What happened now is...I clicked on link in e-mail to go to the "time for a post....." thread and in stead it took me the same "Active C3VR Tech Forum threads" pagwe. Did this 5 times and I gave up and clicked the link at bottom to go "Active threads psat 24 hours" list and got to the thread that way. This time clicking the "post reply" button woked ok. The status bar for the link in the e-mail read https://www.c3vr.com/forums/message_go.asp?MID=422510&jump=1#422685 but took me to the "Tech" list instead. Hope that's what you are looking for.

When you say the "Active Tech Threads" list, do you mean the Home Page located at https://www.c3vr.com  ??
also known as:  https://www.c3vr.com/default.asp

Yes
For what its worth, although it's a moot point now. It works a little better with Firefox but still have some of the same problems.
