I just left yet another forum because they enjoy trashing custom cars, vettes in this case,
When I joined it I was told it was not allowed, I guess their rules changed.

Anyway, I want to find out while this forum is just getting started will that be allowed here?
If so it's no place for me,
Thanks, T.

I would say the answer is NO.

I personally own a CUSTOM vette and no one has trashed me or ''her'' .

of course everyone is enititled to their opinion but ..''mud slinging'' will not be tolerated.

This topic came up on a different thread. It was pretty much agreed that there is more than one type of car owner out there. The purist, the modifyer, the mildly modified, the whatever it takes to keep the car on the road and the way I want it there, etc, etc, Bottom line is pretty much this, it's you car ( or to be politically correct your vehicle ) do with it as you wish. Just enjoy it ! And by the way, welcome to this forum. Hopefully you will have found a home here and it is the last one you will need to try out.
What do I like in a car? Well, personally I like to keep them pretty much stock looking but want them to run like someone is chasing them with a hot poker ! |laugh|

I personally don't think trashing custom jobs should be tolerated. Everyone has their own taste in cars, so you should be able to do whatever you want to it. Welcome to C3VR.

I posted that right after I a pic of a greenwood daytona was posted and serveral people were saying how buttfugly it was , this came just days after the mako pic you see here was trashed.
So I asked if the negativity could stop, and I was flamed that since the car was butt fugly it was anyones choice to say so.
Anyway that brings me down, I come to forums for Camaraderie and fun not for negativity life is hard enough without an escape like a car forum being a downer so forgive me if I sounded pretty snide.
Cheers, T. |cheers|

I see by your picture you have great taste in cars |biggrin|

I can guess the site you are talking about. I got a similar reaction. Maybe we can just call it the SuperSnob Registry. |laugh|

To each, his own. That's what makes the world interesting. I can appreciate something about just about any car but personally I like something that looks different or at least not common. I really have the highest respect for someone that completely restores a car. I just want one that looks fairly nice and is fun to drive.

Welcome to the site! |hippie|

That is a nice looking Vette. I like the sharp front end. And the side pipes are great. I want a set of those when I drop my 454 in. |cheers|

Good looking car!!! And to think my wife thinks the nose on our car is hard to judge. She'd be "trunking" cars all day with yours |laugh|

The car in my picture is from the Motion Maco flyer,
I used it since I haven't scanned any of my work in progress pictures.
I have the same front clip as in the flyer pic and am looking for the same rear clip, if anyone runs into a Maco or other custom rear clip/bumper please drop me a line. In the meantime I am doing custom "stuff" to the rear and running the Cragar wrap around rear window louvers.
I also have the same ZL-1 rear flares and turbo wing like on LakotasRoses cool car.
In the works are a big block but I'm not 100% sure it will be Chevy.
That will come as cash flow improves.
The nose on this clip in very peaked, maybe 8" or 10" over stock, I have this radar thing that's made for backing up, it tells you how close to an object you are, I plan to mount it in the front to avoid nose jobs.
Side pipes, wake the dead loud, leg searing things, and on this project I just gotta have them.
|biggrin|
Here's a couple of poor quality pics of the last custom I built., It was a daily driver which I plan my current project to be.

I know how having your car trashed can be. I'm sure you all know the jokes about the crossfire motor in 82 CE's. I feel the same as all the rest here, I hope that you find this forum more pleasing and the people friendly. Welcome and have a good time here! Oh, and by the way, I dig Maco's and other customs too. That nose does look a little bit on the hard side to judge where it is. I think it would take a while to get used to like anything though. |cool|

Thanks for the great vibes everyone! Some fine looking Vettes you got there! |biggrin|

That's a great idea about putting the backup sensor on the front too. I have one of those on the back of my pickup and it works great. It is tuff judging the front on my Mako and it's just as tuff backing up with limited visibility. Ah, the price we pay for being cool. |cool|

Tyla, very sorry to hear about your experience. I can assure you, that I as well as the other moderators here will not tolerate trashing...objective opinions yes, I must say, i am not sure what site you were at, but i noticed down the string, there was a referral to the SuperCar Registry, and for those who have a bad taste with that site, i am very sorry, but i am affiliated with that site also... and am yet to have any probs simply because i own a BALDWIN-MOTION Maco Shark... the only true issue with their site, is that they ARE geared more towards the Yenkos and such, so, i apologize if it was that site giving you flack... i will talk to mr. clary, and see if he would place a note on the board asking them to be more tolerant of us :) keep in touch, i would love to get some pics of your car up on the LS5Corvette.com site :) to all that have read this post, happy cruzing....bigblock72, the other Maco owner :)

Yeah, what Adam said...!!! |no-no| |hammer| C3VR is a great place to enjoy being with folks who LOVE |lovebug| their Corvettes and respect others opinions. Check out this thread for the "Restoration vs. Modification" discussion (https://www.c3vr.com/c3vforums/message_go.asp?MID=446). I updated it so the picture I posted of some modified body panels from a 1982 Ecklers catalog would show up again.

Welcome aboard...!!! |wavey|

I really don't want to post the forum name I left, afterall it's only partly the forum itself fault,
And members here may go there and have better luck than I did.
It wasn't the one named here it was a forum just for vettes.

I understand people have opinions but what I meant by trashing was more negative to me. opinion is saying something like: , "The back window or the nose of the maco clip is too big/pointed for me"
Trashing is: " Damn that maco kit is the most buttfugly thing I have ever seen to ruin a vette"

Hippy, I will look around on here , do you have a pic up of your maco?
It's been raining here and very muggy out I don't like to lay 'glass in such weather and have been moving slowly trying to get the fit of the cowl/rocker pieces better on mine, the drivers side will take a lot of work to get it lined up good.
Cheers, all
BTW, I have a vette friend with the cross fire on his 84, he would'nt trade it for the world.

Hi All,
Just Want to clarify that in my previous post I said “The SuperSnob Registry” as a way of kidding about any snobby type sites. It was NOT aimed at The Super Car Registry site (of which I am a member, and have received positive help from members) it just sounded close. The site I did not care for will remain unnamed. It was purely a spur of the moment, off the top of my head, name for a hypothetical club people can join to bash others cars (maybe I will start one, it would be like the Jerry Springer for cars forum, could be fun)....
Sorry if I ruffled any feathers. |grrr|

Thanks! |hippie|

I have to agree with Darla, and everyone else. It is always class when it is done with glass.... I am finishing a mild modified 1969 myself. I just ordered the 17" American Racing wheels for it. I will post pics when it is out of the shop.
