I am extremely proud of my Military service in the US Army. I was wondering if there was a way that we could list the Veterans, Past & Present, who belong to this organization and if there is a way to show that on our profiles for the rest of the club to recognize.

Thanks,
Jim, US Army 1964 - 1967

Jim, There are some who put their Military info in their signature for all to see every time they post. Due to health issues I was unable to serve in the Military. I love my country and couldn't be more proud of the men & women who serve, and feel you should be recognized in every way possible. Thanks Jim. TerryM

Hi Jim, I think that listing would be nice. For some reason it seems like being a Vietnam vet, after all this time, I still feel like a marked man. sucks!!! I'm not whining folks.
Bull crap Gene, you should be proud of your service. You Vietnam Vets are my hero's  Clap  I was too young to join the Army during that time but I did shortly after.  I'm proud of the 23 yrs I did in the Army, but honestly don't miss it.

I think a listing or a "Special note" in peoples signature or avatar is a great idea.

Serving in the US Air Force was the best 24 years I had. Everyone who served should be proud. I also think having a speacial note is a good idea.

It's great to see the response to this thread. It's probably in the wrong place as the only intrested parties are us mid-westerners. Should have put it in the general discussion area, I guess. Thanks guys for all you've done for this great country of ours and cudo's to you "lifers". You did something that after 2 years of somebody trying to kill me, I just couldn't muster the courage to do. I salute you.

Jim

I managed to sneak into the National Guard. I did 6 years, with six full months of active duty. Evidently I was a candy-a$$. While I did my six months at Ft. Knox, and Ft. Gordon..........I really got into the Army thing. I would have rather stayed in for the other 18 months, but my butt was already signed over to the state of Ohio. My hat is tipped with THE MOST RESPECT to everyone who served. I'm glad that you survived, hopefully without damage. Thank You!

Puff and the Jolly Green Giant saved my a$$ more than once. Keep in mind that we don't use the term candy a$$ and military service in the same sentence. I prefer the title of "weekend warrior" or "civilian soldier". Doesn't matter how you did your time - only that you did it. You belong in this "club" as much as we do. Don't ever count yourself short. Be proud and loud.
Thanks Jim for your kind words. I'll bet everyone who served in anyway, still remembers his service number. Mine was NG23611449. While I was in the Army, we in the Guard were told that the NG stood for NO GOOD. We definitely weren't liked. I was in from Jan-July 1967. While I was at Gordon, everyone that I went to school with that wasn't a reservist, had to go to RVN training. We (reservist) felt really bad because we were getting ready to be discharged and the regulars were going to Nam. I had a personal friend that was killed there. It truly was bad for the veterans coming back because they weren't treated as the Heros that the were. Everything was so messed up at that time. Kent State happened also. My company was on alert, we had just got back from rifle qualifing at Camp Perry, when the riots broke out. We as guardsmen were the same age as the college protesters. That really was a horrible situation. I'm so glad that I don't have that on my concience.   corvette440hp2008-04-17 06:45:54

I spent 37 years active duty in the Air Force from Feb 1966 to Feb 2003. Came up through the ranks, from  A3/C to Tech Sgt then 2nd Lt To Lt Col. Loved every day of it. Still love it, Teaching AFJROTC at the local High School to the future leaders of our military. The students always ask which is the best branch of the military. Simple answer-- there is no best branch, each have a different mission and our country needs all of them, to keep our country free.

RA15730852 Never forget that number. Would look every month on the MIA-KIA list to see if that number was on it. If it was, I knew I was in deep sh$t. Times were different back then and people didn't react the same as they do today. I'm glad that our boys comming home don't have the same welcome home as I did. We treat them with respect and honor. Back in the day, the protesters made you feel like crap. What a great nation that gives you the right to do that and also gives you the right to kick their a$$ if you don't agree with them. darn there I go on the soap box again.

I'm very glad that you Veterans are now finally getting the recognition that you guys were cheated out of. You served as loyal Red Blooded Americans, only to be dissed by the weirdos who never really understood the situation. Thanks Again To You ALL!
